Drivetrain SoCal group pulley install
Bud,
That actually sounds like a great plan! I know it is a couple hours south of LA, right?
How many folks on the list already would be opposed to doing it in San Diego?
Let me know so we can organize this thing. Tracy or Clo, give me a call to maybe do a SCMM get together associated with the installs. We are doing that in Dallas and it looks like it is going to be a huge fun event. I'd like to see that in SoCal!

San Diego is really nearby, anybody in LA who wants the install will go there, it's an easy drive. If there is going to be a SCMM get together in SD, expect many MINI's

Put my vote in for June.
San Diego is fine for me. I know the drive home will be better than the drive down there...
Randy, I have the 2nd generation three piece pulley.
Do you think you'll have time to install a Magnaflow??

Im in on the San Diego veture. Just let me know the date so I can order the parts, through Randy of course, and I will be there with bells on! Let us know if you will be doing any other installs as well just so I can plan.
Thanks
Kev
Thanks

Randy,
I reference to the pulley mod. About how many can you reasonably do in a day and should we order the parts through you before we make the trip. Also, do you do this all yourself or do we get to, or are we expected to help (or maybe hinder....) you.
I am damn sure I can take the thing apart, now that pesky getting it back together...hmmmmm
Thanks

Honestly, I don't know if we'll have time for the other installs. It'll really depend on how many cars we get.
The pulley I'll be using is actually a new design all together. It's a two piece, and has yet to hit the market.
Swaybar - about 1.5 hours.
Exhaust - about an hour (if the dag-gone mounts go smoothly - they can be a bear to get the stock system out of)
As far as ordering the parts, I'll be bringing the pulleys, so don't worry about it. If you wanted other stuff, as long as Bud doesn't mind, I have no problem setting people up with the exhaust/intake/swaybar/spring installation while I'm doing another pulley at the same time. If you want to learn how to work on your car, I'd be happy to show you and be there to guide you through any tough spots.

Randy,
Does the new design of pulley have advantages over the old style, I am guessing it was a one piece, and how much experience have you had with the new design. I trust that you would not be using it if it wasn't superior.
I have also signed up for the Quicksilver buy. Do you think they will be in for the San Diego thing or will that be a later install for me to do.
Thanks for all of your help in these things. Your dedication to the group here and helping us with these upgrades is invaluable and vastly appreciated.

Randy,
I doo not have an S, but if you need a place to stay, I might be able to get you a few nights at Homestead Suites... there are few in the LA area... One is in Arcadia...
If this fits into your plans, etc let me know.
What date are you looking at?
-Doug
PS I might, (MIGHT) be able to cruise the same deal for you for your Florida trip.
And no, I am not a hotel manager LOL.... just connected.
Doug,
Thanks for the offer! I'll be down in San Diego it looks like for the install. Anything in that neck of the woods? For FLA, I actually have a house down there, so I really won't need accomodations (it's my parent's house).
bbt4,
I have a couple guys from NorCal driving down for the install. You wouldn't be interested in that would you? I don't think I'm going to have time before October or so to do anything at all!
Randy
PS - the new pulley is trick...

Mission Valley is less than 5 minutes away! If that works out, Great!!! If not, Hey, don't worry, we've got lots of alternatives.

Randy,
i don't know if i can wait till july. i do like the june time frame though. i don't think i mine driving down to SoCal. if i can't, i'll just order one and have my friends do in Oakland. but the problem with that is they never done any mcs pulleys before and i hope they have the proper pulley puller. the good part about this is there are some how-to threads that will walk us through provided that we have the right tools. i'll let you know in terms of the pulley.
also, do you have any update regarding that San Francisco Bay Area Magnaflow sample ride. i am ready to order my exhaust first.
thanks randy,

July 10th through the 13th??? Is that your target???
BTW, great list going but how many a day do you think you can do? Not including any extras like suspension or exhausts. I mean the other's aren't difficult but they all take time. (I did my suspension in less than an hour and my Borla in about 20 minutes - the rack makes it easy!)
What's your guess???

I like the Motorsport conversion better than the Hartge stuff (ECU wise).
Bud,
I can do 6-7 per day, so that limits it to 21 total. That is hustling! I have talked with folks about other upgrades, and while I'd be happy to walk them through some of them while I'm working on the pulleys, if we get all 20 folks signed up, I just won't have time for suspension/exhaust. Intakes have to be replcaed during the installation anyway, so I have no problem doing that during the pulley install.
See you all soon!!

Randy,
Is that 6-7 per day with help or by yourself! Also, will you be bringing all of the tools that you need or is there a list of tools that would be handy to have that maybe some of us could bring along if we have them.
David

That's 6-7 by myself. I'll be driving the car to Dallas with the tools required - but thanks very much for the offer!
We'll see on the throttle body. If I can get away from the phone long enough
, I should be able to find out if the newest iteration is working tomorrow.
I have confirmed the availability of the ECU mods while in SoCal, Dallas, and FL.
Can't wait to see you guys!!
