2007 JCW features/options are...

... more craptastic than ever!!

Just got a "notification" from MINI USA to go look at the 2007 lineup.

I went through the motions and "built" one . At the very last "step" in the "build" is the JCW options list. Wow. For 2007 MINI USA offers JCW features that have absolutely NOTHING to do with performance, whatsoever!!

Oh, oops, I goofed. You CAN get DRILLED FRONT ROTORS!! Woohoo. (Please note: the "thumbs up" is intended to be sarcasm). Maybe there are some worthwhile wheels also, but since the weights and construction types of wheels are not mentioned on ANY of them, who can say? And at the prices they are asking... well, let's just say that one might be able to find good light performance wheels AND TIRES for less than $600-800/corner at the good old Tire Rack.

What a pathetic offering; and with the great new potential of the turbo, too. Evidently, the object is NOT performance anymore, but just an expensive
"entry level" "mini-beamer".

The Mini Cooper as we have known it for the past glorious and fun 5 years is dead.

I wonder how many folks are going to pay for the craptastic stuff you can get now?

What are you talking about??? There is NOTHING new here except for the cross-drilled rotors. Everything else has been available for along time:impatient

Patience... remember the JCW kit didn't come out for the first MINI right away. The performance stuff is being developed as we speak, these things just take time.

It's what is NOT available: performance engine (i.e., +HP and +foot-pounds package of ANY kind.)

But motoringfile reported six months ago that the JCW performance bits would not be available until the 2008 model year.

You got to give them a chance to engineer and build the things:impatient

redfaced

Do you remember on SNL -- way back -- when Gilda Radner would play "Roseanne Roseannadanna" (sp?) on the "news" with Chevy Chase? Remember how -- after her long passionate rants about whatever imagined outrage had "got her going" -- when Chevy would finally get her calmed down, and explain to her how her malaprop had led her astray, so that whatever the outrage was, she would have to just stop and say:

"Oh. That's very different. ................ Never mind!"

Remember that?

...and and point of clarification:

A "Beamer" is a BMW bike, but a "Bimmer" is a BMW automobile.

Incredibly picky, eh what?
