yeah, 30psi of boost at over 1000 whp... amazing power in a straight line... but they cut the crossmember in front of the motor... which can't be good for stability or rigidity....

the f20c can make 500-650 with just a 3mm head gasket... 800-900 with a built motor. i dont know why they chopped up the car and changed the balance... but its still pretty impressive

they have a picture of the 2jz in the s2k. underneath the picture it says 2jz with nas ... its got a picture of two JayZ's (the rapper) in the motor... and Nas (the rapper) on the side... its hilarious... i can't find it now though...

How the heck did they fit that in a 2000??? If you have any links please PM them to me...that'd be a cool read.

theres alot of room in the S2k... ALOT... heck the engine only takes up like a third of the front... LOL...

but better than the 2jZ is what I have seen recently with the S2K ... 1200 HP... out of the motor... GT42R turbo... it was crazy ...it was a fully build S2K motor... but still

It seems like a lot of the for runners in the twin charge world are giving up the TC idea going turbo only. FBT with the race car, a certain unmentionable red car and now Tuls? Any particular reason or just an amazing coincidence ?

Hmm... Let's see. Toasted superchargers. Top mounted intercooler. Intercooler runners. Throttle body to supercharger pipe. Wasted horsepower turning the tiny blower. Rediculous horsepower potential. And of course being one of few... Just a few reasons.

yeah spillman hit alot of nails there... for me... it's an efficiency thing.... with the interkewler.. and the turbo alone... the TC was so kewl... after doing all the testing and finding out I can make the same power on 8 lbs less boost.. I mean... who wouldn't... and heck... to make 300 whp all day on 17 lbs... LOL that's silly... cuase 17lbs is nothing.... the car is hardly working...

Turbos are just more efficient....

at doing forced induction. That's all it is, but it's a lot.

Yeah, I think you do see a growing trend. The thing is that twincharging is so much easier and quicker to do than going to a turbo only setup. So that's where many people start at. If they have the desire, they can spend the extra bux on getting the turbo only setup. However, there's plenty of people out there that are quite happy with their twincharger setups and don't plan on doing anything else. :D

Spillman, I love that fact that at 4k RPMs, you're seeing 150 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels. That thing must be an easy drive with all of the torque coming on down low. (plus plenty of good-gawd-man torque up high) Hey, if I said that car would be totally undriveable on the street...would you make a video of it to prove me wrong? hehehe

He should boost the S2K...

Tuls, so are you going to fill us in on what turbo you're using??

Spillman, any more news on your setup? Did you go back to the dyno? Have you upped the boost?

long story short, and not to hijack this cool thread, but i gave/sold back the MCS to my dad... with the additional mods, he was surprised on much faster it was although he didn't want the turbo kit, he loved the exhaust, pulley and software... I got a deal from my work on a real cheap low mileage s2k. and yes, i am boosting it! I just got the Paxton 1000 powered comptech kit... it's a milder FI compared to the turbo kits, but i get much better reliability and when i rev it out to vtec get an extra 100 horsepower! i will eventually go up to about 10psi with a standalone and larger injectors... but for now, i'll be happy with 5.5psi...

back on topic...
With the stock ECU being so finicky when data goes out of certain parameters... and being in a state that does inspection (Me=NJ), what have people done to fool/help the ECU not go into limp home mode or throw codes?

2 quick questions for the turbo guys...

You guys are all using internal wastegate?

How come most people are spending the dough on electronic boost controllers rather than just a manual?

Thanks

Tuls hit it on the spot. I'm not one of the turbo guys, but if I do go turbo in the future i'd use an electronic boost controller so that you can turn up the boost on the go...

You can still do that with and 2 stage manual boost controller.

But you only have 2 stages which are pre-set... Can you up the boost while inside the car driving as well? Either way, the electronic boost controller is easier at the flick of a switch lol.. Maybe Tuls will chime in again as he knows more about this..

all the manual boost controlers I have seen/used would require poppin the bonnet and turning the valve.... for me that's not one the go... that's "hold on a sec I gotta check something" lol....
plus the electronic ones light up! who doesn't want more light up stuff?!
