I talked to Rob not last week, but the week before, and they ahd run into some production issues. He told me it would be about 2 weeks, so I'll give him a call tomorrow and see where it's at. I'll let you know as soon as it gets here - really!

mmmm UUC!
[licks lips in anticipation]

...If they can pull off a short-shifter for the MINI like they did for my E36, oh my, I will be highly aroused

Cheers,
Ryan

P.S. Randy, got my H-Sport springs today from ya! I'll put 'em on this weekend!

Great Ryan - let me know how it goes, and feel free to give me a call during the install if you run into anything.

No updates on UUC's website, unfortunately! I'm still drooling in anticipation!

Seriously. If they developed a short shifter with the stainless steel RK3 ****, with a lit up shift pattern, I'd buy one today!!!!!

They need to hurry up with the development.

I had been waiting on the UUC exhaust for the last few months but it is resembling computer vaporware.
Always 1 or 2 weeks off. same story week after week (the other one that seems like this is the SSR comp R wheels- been waiting over 6 months on that one to materialize). I'm sure that it will be a very good exhaust- it looks great. Not sure how loud it will be, how much power it might afford, how much it might weigh or how much it might cost.

I decided to purchase a Quicksilver from Randy and just use it- who knows maybe it will be another 6 months and I can be using my upgrade the whole time, then sell it later if I want.

The production version UUC should finally be here Thursday of the week after next. I'll be sure to give you the full run down ASAP!

As far as the lit ****, I talked Rob at UUC into considering it, but it won't be for a few months before it is ready. The short shift is in the works as well.

i emailed them a couple of weeks ago about making a light up RK3 for my MINI. No response (other than an automated response saying someone would get back to me in 48 hours). I even offered to slot my own shaft just to run the wires down if necessary. I am disapointed with this lack of communication. Why solicit email questions if you are not going to answer them?

Just to clarify, you are talking about UUC, not MINI-Motorsport, right notpaddyhopkirk?

Exactly Randy.
No, you are always MOST responsive, thank you very much.

You know, I bet there are a bunch of MINI owners, like me, that would like an illuminated RK3 shiftknob. Do you have any sway with UUC?

BTW, I need to talk to you about a Pully. What is the loan time on the Pully-Puller? Do I need to make a reservation? How long before I need to return it? I have to coordinate with my buddy's shop for a day we can make the swap together.

Cheers,

It's funny, I emailed UUC 3 times in the last month inquiring about what it would take to get them to produce a lit RK3. I told them that interest was very strong. I told them I could get at least 30 people to buy (between here and mini2.com) And I know how easy it would be for them to make the RK3 for the mini, because they have the lit RK3 for the BMW.

They ignored all 3 emails. No response what so ever.

I am definitely noticing a trend here. It seems an alarming amount of venders dont seem to give a crap about their customers. (Mini-Motorsport and HELIX clear exceptions) How hard is it to return an email. Even if you only do it once a week!!! It makes me sad to give these people my money.

Unfortunately, I really really want a lit RK3. And I really think they would make a good short shifter.

It makes me want to start a mini performance shop that actually cares about their customers, but I guess Randy beat me to it.

Anyway... UUC please get your sh*t together.

I was absolutely worried about the loudness of the quicksilver before I bought it. I'm 32 years old and don't want to be associtated with the little kids running around waking up the neighborhood with their 90 horsepower hondas.

So here is my review:

On a scale of 1 to 10

Sound Quaility 11

Looks 11

Loudness 11 (Not much louder than stock (PERFECT))

Power 5 (I dont think it makes a much power as the magnaflow)

Personally, I am switching to the magnaflow. I am going to sell my quicksilver as soon as I can find a buyer that is willing to get the exhaust installed at HELIX in Philly.

I do plan to run before and after dyno runs to see what the power difference is between the Quicksilver and the Magnaflow. I'm sure everyone will be interested in that.

Regarding the combination of mods: I do not have the madness intake installed yet, so I cant say. But I did dyno the car with the pulley and quicksilver and heres what I got:

Max Power 157.7
Max Torque 137.5

Not as much as I would like, but its a good possibility that the stock intake is not flowing as much air as these upgrades would like.

Here is the quicksilver site, in case you dont have it:

Here's a pic of the quicksilver with the duel tips:

I am selling my one hour old magnaflow for $500. I would be intrested in your Quicksilver. I am looking for something just a little more sporty than stock. Magnaflow was too loud for me. If you`re intrested contact me at pwilk20@hotmail.com

I am located in Queens, NY.

Paul.

Nice dual tips on the Quicksilver- how do I get them if I already have a single tip on order?

Timcuculic-
Tricky, you posted the dual tips so I thought you have one of the first dual tips out. I heard they were becoming available so I assumed you were lucky and got them. Anybody can put on europlates so that wasn't bad and you can still show an example of the dual tips from another like car-that's OK.

I've been reading more posts on using the QS with other mods like the pulley upgrade and ECU and it looks like at least one person who has done lots of testing feels that the QS is not really matched well for power with the other mods. It seems that the magnaflow would be a better choice if you are doing the heavy big power mods- otherwise like you have found the gains in HP are modest or at least muted. Now I can see why you might want to swap out the QS. I ordered one but I don't even have it yet. I might keep it in the box ready to sell if the word on the UUC exhaust shows promise but that is still another 2 weeks off from final testing by Randy BMC.

So the QS might be good for people that do only a little with perf mods- like intake, suspension stuff, wires, ECU only, maybe throttle body and QS. Loudness is good not too much.

But when you add the Magnaflow- it will be louder so you'll have to decide if that is worth the extra power. Your choice

I think it was Davbret who posted that certain exhausts might not fare as well with a lot of mods esp the pulley. In fact, he had info that the magnaflow performed the worst with a pulley. This seems to be confirmed to a degree by Andy's dynos (at least I think it was Andy). I believe according to his dynos, adding the magnaflow to the pulley only added 4 or 5 horses. Certainly not worth it to me - neither the louder noise or the expense. BUT, if something like the Borla or UCC can add 8 or so horses on TOP OF the pulley and not drone or be too loud, I think I'll go for it.

Randy,

I assume that the Thursday you stated above was the 15th, any progress this week in evaluating the viability of UCC exhaust as a top 3 option for MCS aftermarket exhaust systems?

Thanks,
SMKKVK
