good question. I would give chad, from detroit tuning a quick call. Very Nice and easy to talk to! I am sure he could answer your questions quickly. I might now when I get mine in hand. but as im putting a new tensioner in I will do the stop before the install. but at least ill have an idea......

Just checking as I have a belt and tension tool. Artoo has 75,000 miles and was wondering if I should get a stop before I do the job. But I really don't want to have to remove the tensioner to do it.

Yes the stop can be installed w/o taking off the tensioner, but it is a lot easier if taken off. If you have 75k on the original tensioner in all likelyhood it needs replacing also.

I just finished doing mine. HOLY S*** it was a PITA! after reading most of the threads on the subject I was thinking an hour and a half tops for me to get it done. 4 hours later, it was finally on. I must have some freak of a mini cause I can't figure out how you could get that thing in and out with out some serious motor movement. I ended up having to remove the whole top motor mount to get the new one in. Cripes!

On a happy note, the car is running great and I now have a full hole showing.

p.s. I forgot that while I had tension on it the tensioner tool slipped off and my buddy almost killed himself. I about crapped myself at the same time thinking we just ruined my brand new tensioner and wasted 5 hours of our lives. then I remembered that I had purchased a DT stop. so needless to say, it was fine. (thank you Detroit tuned for the awsome product!) If I hadn't of had it, $135 down the drain, in about a half a second.

Did you install a new tensioner or just the stop? How can a new stop make more holes show?

yep, new tensioner and stop. also a shorter belt. I would have loved to see how others have done it before I attempted it! I have never had such a hard time with something that others claim to be easy!
