JCW Intake

I have the JCW Intake. I have propped open the "door" so I don't have to wait for 4500rpm.

I just got my JCW intake on today. It was such a PITA to install and I'm a little disappointed in being able to tell if the flap is opening. I didn't think it was actually working so I had a friend rev the engine and stuck my hand in there to see if it was working and it was. I don't have much time above 4,500 rpm though since I'm still in break-in. I'm sure it helps once the revs get way up, can't wait to really be able to test it out. The JCW logo under the hood sure is cool.

Overall, I'd do it again, I don't want the whine to be too loud. Milltek goes on Sunday so we'll see how that sounds.

Just wondering I can install the JCW instake alone, because my dealer told me I should have the JCW 210 kit first, then install the Intake, because intake flap will not open without JCW ECU progam installed. Is that ture????

Aslo, I am using the Milltek for 2 years, it run perfect for me, cos I don't like somthing too loud. It run very normal under 2500rpm, but It will give the rich sound when you pass the 3000 rpm. It is really fun from 4000 rpm to red line.

Nonsence. Mine is completely stock with no other JCW things and my flap works just great. It seems like it uses the engine speed signal (?) power, ground and vacuum to open and close the flap.

Flap, flap, flap... what a funny word.

I agree. a PITA install and pretty scary tapping into the computer's harness I Also agree, about the JCW logo, you can't have enough Like Banks logos on a Cummins Turbo Diesel I have been above 4500 rpms many times its not like hitting a NOS button but its noticable. I have not installed bigger injectors and the reflash yet .I don't think its going to be much different after those wallet pounders either. All these small "upgrades" are small steps and not one of them alone is going to be hugely noticable.I kind of worry about MPG's suffering alot if I go with more "upgrades" .

Ouchhh. I got mine for $250 through outmotoring.com.I had a local guy install it for $150 so it seems like the dealer didn't try to ream you out on the install. I know the installation is a little bit tougher since you have to tap into the ecu. I love the intake though. Boy is it fun when you get up to 4500.

I intalled my JCW intake last weekend. It went fine, but for the vacume lines, taking off the intercooler cover gave me a little more room.

Also, I used a great trip from another car guy. Used the following crimp connectors from Radio Shack instead of the supplied crimp connector. Just crimp 2 wires in the larger female connector, 1 wire in the smaller male connector and then they are both 1/4" connectors so they go together perfectly. Plus I get the protective boot!

Sure, NOW you post this I managed to cut & strip the wire before realizing how big of a PITA the supplied connector was gonna be
