I would like to announce that Helix Minisports will now be carrying the LordOfTheFlies Engine Damper Kit!

The description from our website:
We all know that the stock engine mount on 2002-2006 MINI Coopers does not
do an adequate job of holding the engine in place during hard shifting.
Our kit reduces unecessary engine flex, resulting in smoother, faster
shifts, and gives the driver a more direct connection to the car. It makes
motoring even more enjoyable than it already is!

The kit we have developed mounts directly to the engine block and the
frame, requiring no drilling or modification of stock parts*. All
necessary hardware required for installation is included with the kit. You
will need to have some basic tools handy in order to install so please
check the instructions in the pdf file below prior to installation.

*Note: at this moment the kit does not fit 2002 or early 2003 model year
cars. Please e-mail to check fitment prior to ordering. A separate bracket
solution is being developed for these earlier cars.

The dampers are $55.00 plus shipping.

Thanks,
Alex

Oooh... The price is right...

Any photographs of the engine dampers installed? How much adjustability do these provide?

Nevermind about the questions I had. Visually, these are identical to the ones that LOTF has. I'm likely to pass.

Hi Iggy.

Before anybody gets confused, I just wanted to set the record straight.

Helix is now carrying the damper kit that Partsman and I came up with.

We are very close to production on our custom brackets for the earlier model year cars.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Looking forward to working with Helix!

Thanks

Hi Latte Hiatus,

As they are the same, I was just wondering why you are "likely to pass" on them.

Regarding adjustment you can add a bit of pre-tension by shortening the overall length of the damper (screwing in the pre-tension ****) but in order to make it fit you'll have to drill a hole into the frame area about 1" closer or so towards the rear of the car.

Wow, it's awesome that Helix will be carrying these now...hopefully it'll help to spread the wealth around! Good luck with the product and especially with the earlier style bracket mounts!

It's coming, real soon. The prototype has been built, fitted, and tested. It will now be sent to me so that I can test it out on a friend's 03.

Thanks for your patience Cody! (And all the others who have been waiting along patiently with you)

Helix has graciously agreed to carry the engine damper kit. With Helix backing the product as well as the community's tremendously positive response, I'm looking forward to working with Helix and the community to not only further develop this product, but hopefully bring new ones as well.

Thanks again.

Thanks mate, try to keep it pretty clean. There is some dirt near the engine mount .

Heres a pic of the rest of the car:

Shes at the dealers getting a new radiator at the min, look forward to having her back soon (oh, and she'll have at least 20 more ponies in her when she gets back too :D). Been without her for two weeks so its been really hard for me!! Got a massive box filled with parts ready to go in as well, going to have to take a week off of work and pull a fair bit of stuff apart to get it all in :D.

Thanks! As Shoe said, the bracket is being tested now so I imagine it will be available soon.

Kevin, I like the look of your car. That 37 piece on the side, I assume its two pieces since it covers the space between the door and the fender but I can't quite tell from the pic. which is it?
