odd liquid

after getting rained out form finishing putting on my intake last night, im finally finished now, but when i took out the filter there was this honey colored grease on the bottom of the alta filter. a little is sitting on the actual filter itself, is this grease normal, and is it okay to run it, or should i clean the filter?

thanks

It's the filter oil I freaked out a few years ago about this until I figured out what it was...

Is it a new installation? Alta really "oils" their filters and it will accumulate and drip off the bottom of the filter.

As MSFITOY said it is just the filter oil.

Hello,

Just to quickly back this up. In some cases there is a SIGNIFICANT amount of excess oil on the filter. This should be mopped off with a paper towel , shop towel or similar and disposed of properly. (There should have been a note in the instructions to this affect and my apologies if yours didn't have it.) But other than the slight mess, there is nothing wrong perse. Also, for performance it is ideal to use the least amount of oil as possible when servicing it as well.

If I (or our staff) can clarify further PLEASE let us know. Thanks again!
