Want to lower IATs 5º ?

Clean out your IC.

Did some before and after temp readings. Using my usual method. Cruisng speeds, differnt gears, etc.

Even though todays temps were just over 100º I was actually running cooler temps than when I had done my last readings . It was 88-90º then.

IAT improvement was right at 5º*on average.

Here's a nice bit.Ambient reading was 102º and at an ideal 70 mph cruise, no load scenario I was only 9º over ambient

Bear in mind I run an OCC on one side and even though it doesn't keep the IC perfectly clean it helps and I had last cleaned the IC 5-6K miles ago.

So, get off yer duff and get your IC clean inside and out.

Sorry for the segue that follows.

Am I correct in my assumption that the oil that coats the inside of the intercooler all comes courtesy of the crankcase tube that connects into the inlet just north of the throttle body?

If that is the case, then why (EMISSION ISSUES ASIDE) don't folks disconnect the tube, plug the inlet on the air intake tube and put a small filter (as with the Hot Air Intake) on the crankcase tube?

SOme do.
Ignoring emmisions of course

The smart thing would be an OCC there as well.

That's what I'm running. I have an OCC (coming...my other one didn't work!) on one side and I also have a HAI, so the breather filter is attached onto the crankcase tube. Another solution would be to install a second OCC on the crankcase side.
