OBX Header + One-Ball

Had the OBX header put on today to go with my One-Ball exhaust. I'll try to get some clips for you all, since I've had a lot of people ask about it.

My friend did the install for me, and wow did it seem like a pain. Getting it up past the front sway bar seemed a little bit of a challenge. Also, he could not get one of the bolts in...the head of the bolt was too close to one of the 4 pipes to be put in properly.

Sound wise, its definitely loud. When its idling or when you are just cruising it actually does not sound much louder than stock. But when you get on it, wow its loud. I don't think its too loud, but I haven't decided on that yet for sure. I can't be much louder than some of the louder cat-backs out there, but I haven't really heard any in person to compare. It is nice though that its only loud when you drive hard. There is a video clip that someone did of the MTH header with the Miltek catback that I have on my computer...I'm not sure where I got it from, but if any of you have it...mine sounds very very similar to that.

Performance wise, you can feel that there is more torque and a little more power...mostly low to midrange. Its really noticeable when you shift gears...there is more pull in each gear now after you shift. I should be getting it dyno'd tomorrow, so I will definitely post the results.

The OBX header+the One-Ball is definitely the best complete exhaust combination in my opinion...for the price, it simply cannot be beat.

I heard an MCS with Mini Mania header and no cat with a Magnaflow dual cat back exhaust. It was really really really loud. We could hear it easily four blocks away as it drove off. Soon, the owner took it off and put the stock header back on.

I have a MINI Mania header with a Magnaflow cat to a one ball. The Magnaflow cat is connected with vee clamps for a quick change to a test pipe. The header made the one ball a notch louder, but is tollerable (for me). I like it a lot. The noise really comes in when you get on it, but otherwise it's ok. I belive it gives some more power. I haven't tried the test pipe yet. The test pipe is just for the track. BTW, Summit has the best price on 2.5in vee clamps that I've found.

A test pipe is just a straight pipe in place of where the cat would be.

Dyno Result with OBX header

Got on the dyno today to see what the OBX header added to my car. Keep in mind, its around 111 today where I live so it might have affected the run a little bit. There was no increase in peak power, but there was an increase in peak torque. The dyno proved what I felt though....greatly increased midrange torque and a little increase in midrange power. The increase in torque was pretty significant.

Here is the dyno sheet:
Blue Line=15% Pulley, CAI, One-Ball+OBX HEADER
Red Line=15% Pulley, CAI, One-Ball

Thanks for the dyno dude!

That's a sweet combo you have there...

OBX header might be my next mod!

appreciate you sharing the graft. Nice TQ gains (where it's needed and counts in my opinion). Nice bang for the OBX & 1-ball Buck!

If the temps were lower I bet you would see some clear HP gain.

A muffler or exhaust shop can make you one very easily. It needs to be about 12inches...they just need to measure a pipe that will fit in that space and weld it in.

The OBX is a 4-2-1, removes one precat, so the torque increase is expected. I am glad you documented / confirm it again. It looks very similar as the graph of the OBX curve from 2 years ago. Nice.
