I need some burble and tone......

from my exhaust. I'm not looking for performance, just some nice music from the exhaust. I'm not into "fart pipes" either. Nice mellow tones. I know the cubic inches aren't there, but there's got to be something available to provide a nice tone. Cabin noise can increase a little over stock. Now you're gonna say I want my cake and eat it too. Yep that's right.
What are your reccomendations?

Thanks...Les

One-Ball exhaust conversion. Cheap. If it still doesn't give you what you want, then look towards Invidia, etc.

Dude,

Option 1

just take a nail and make some holes in your muffler - start with one hole and work your way up until you get the effect you want .

Option 2

Go visit the exhaust thread and pic the one that sounds good to you.

Miltech is a good one to look at. Really good low tone.

Burble and tone?

How about a cell phone under water?

Sorry, couldnt resist.

I like Bahamas answer cause I've done that in cars. Start with a few small holes until you hear what you want

Just drill some holes. No need to spend all that money for a little burble

Try the Blue Flame exhaust. It not only sounds nice but it looks very attractive and gives pretty good performance as well.

Thanks for all the cool replies. I'm making my way through the exhaust sticky. Some links are still there, some are not but that's ok. I'm an old hot rodder and I know cubic inches really help in the tone department, but that's what I'm looking for. So, keep the ideas coming 'cuz I'm making my list and I'll be checking it twice.

Thanks....Les

for those people putting a few holes in....is this in the actual muffler (under the drivers side) or the resonator (under the pas. side?)

thanks!

If you are an old "hot rodder" check out Magna Flow. Too loud for the meek.

I just got the Remus and it sounds perfect to me (not much louder than stock, but a deeper, nicer tone). Funky design:

I'm all about the "nice music from the exhaust". I REALLY ENJOY BEING IN A MINI THAT SOUNDS GREAT! Good luck with the search.

I was gonna suggest mexican food,

but then I read that you want it for your CAR exhaust! One ball doesn't make it too much louder. Sorry, I don't think there's room for a Flowmaster. I'm running the OBX header, stock cat and one ball, and it's nice, but not the deep burble that V8 guys are used to (I don't think anything will make that from a Mini other than an MP3 of muscle car and some speakers under the rear!).

What's the one ball?

Is this were they re-route to one side of the pipes?....how doesn it sound and any power increase? I heard about this mod at Steve's Garage, he does it for $175 - sounds like an option...

Thanks,

I've been reading about the Remus. Kinda curious about how they mitigate pulsing seeing as how the tips are joined together. Do you notice any pulsing? How's the drone at speed, if there is any?

Thanks,

Les

Heheheh.....Mexican food eh? Do you think a Thrush or maybe a Cherry Bomb will fit? Those old 'glass packs' were something else. Millteks a bit pricey, but Remus seems to have a good price point and nice tone. Then there's Magnaflow which sounds very nice. The search continues.
