Well thanks to you guys at NAM where I first came to learn only how to maintain my 2004 mcs, I found threads on mods for the Mini. Now I have the fever. I had a 15% pully on colder plugs installed one morning and zipped over to the Borla installer and had the agressive exhaust installed that afternoon. I plan to order real soon a cool intake system and install that. I can really notice the power difference but sure it will improve more with the intake. Question #1.- had this problem before I did those two mods. Once in awhile not all the time when I drop down 2 gears (like 4th to 2nd at 50 mph) and max the pedal, the engine will balk, almost like not enough fuel or air. Its not redlined but hesitates baddddddddd. Dosn't do this all the time but has happend a couple times before the mods and once after. Another thing that it does frequent is, when I first start the car when it is cold it will sputter and die. Restart it and its fine but if you drive away before it warms a little it sputters some. Any ideas anyone?
Question #2- After I get the air box in is there a software that will also improve the performance of my car? If so which one? I have a Dinan dealer near me.

Question 1 might be a cold engine, realy need a little more info

Before doing any software, it would be best to resolve question 1

 

Not sure what else I can tell you Steve. The boging only happens sometimes and almost acts like its over redline, but it is not. The cold thing is usually in the morning or when the car sits for a few hours. Here again not all the time. I know its not much info but its all I have.

 

Does it feel like there is no A peddle? If so, this happens at WOT to partial throttle just after you lift. The throttle closes, the ECU doesen't compensate for the closed TB like you would expect, it's all there, it just feels a little strange.

Air mass sensor, bad TB.... Do you get a CEL? & do you have a code scanner?
