Drivetrain which turbo kit?
which turbo kit?
i decided that i want to go twincharge. but i dont know which kit to go with. it is going to take a several months to save up the money so i have some time to figure it out. i know you can buy the alta kit and install yourself but ive read that some parts dont come with the kit and you have to go out and get them. the helix kit is looking good but i would have to drive down to helix to get it installed, and its going to run $6000ish installed. would it be cheaper to build my own turbo kit, or have someone else build it? any input wouild be nice
This has to be said.
IMO, a single turbo setup would be more efficient, and bring more power for your buck. The twin charge is retarded expensive for using a **** garret 28. There is far better, more efficient turbos that can be custom installed and produce more power than the twin charge systems. The problem is, no one is willing to step out and do it, rather everyone seems willing to settle on whats been done. I'd do it, but money and the fact that I want to stay NA kind of gets in the way
So the twin charge runs 20lbs of boost-depending on pulley ?! For $6 grand. And at 20lbs, motors are popping stock internals. Let alone reliability after the install. 300hp.
Wait, 300hp and stock plus pulley we've seen 220hp. 80hp for $6 grand. **** garret 28.
Here comes the testomonials.

Yeah. But why do you still need the supercharger if you installed a turbo?
1) "Twin" - These amps go to eleven, thats one more.
2) Lag
- Okay.
I don't see the point of two different mechanicals, that create boost in different ways, that when combined, become "efficient." Not just combined, but routed into each other.
I do see: (this is just for fun, we're all friends here)
sdv515: If your set on getting one, thats great. I've read reviews on both kits searchable by name. As far as real, and usable feedback; A conversation I had with a popular mechanic netted a recomendation against the Fireball one for reliability, which ever one that may be. Just opinions.

"Hey, we could put a small turbo on there and route it into the TB and let the supercharger compress it more to give us more boost than a pulley alone. We'll call it twincharged to confuse people on the simpicity but warrant the astronomical price. And since we don't have the capacity to figure in room behind the bumper for a proper intercooler, we utililize the already inefficient heat-sink one on top the motor, that way we keep the scoop functional too--scoops have to be functional, man. We'll also add a mister to cool it off and to give it that extra step over the top. And when we're done, lets create a video at dusk and bask in our ingenuity!"

That was harsh, so I'll apologize to the parties involved. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...90720&q=300+hp
