quick borla install question

hello

I'm going to install the borla exhaust on my MCS this weekend and I have a quick question. I thought i read a DIY somewhere that says you have to use a dremel to trim a little off the heatshield to accomodate for the new exhaust tip. Is that true? if so, I better go out and get a dremel kit before I get under my car.

thanks

No cutting necessary. I didn't do mine, but I watched while it was installed and everything fit perfect. Just remember to leave all the slip joints loose until you get it all lined up the way you want it. Plenty of clearance around the tips. Hardest part was removing 'n re-installing the rubber hangers. Good luck.....'n you'll love the sound. You installing the street or sport?

willum: thanks for the info. I've read about the rubber hangers. I've got a can of WD-40 handy. I'm installing the Race version.

You may have to bend the battery box skid plate a little but no cutting.

k-huevo: that's what i was referring to, the battery box skid plate (not the heatshield, wrong part name). So a little adjustment is necessary on this part to accomodate the new exhaust tips then?

Yup:

I've seen them bent down about a half an inch

I managed to install the exhaust today in the scorching Southern California heat of 100+ degrees. I was able to put everything back without bending the battery box skid plate. But I did have to tilt the exhaust tips slightly downward though. I didn't want them to be too close to the plastic trim below the rear bumper. Did you guys have to do the same on your install?
