The stock 56-lb sunroof is gone and the 47-lb stock seats were replaced by these 15-lb Cobra Sportline composite race seats.
Say what? They removed the sunroof? What did they do with the HUGE hole left over? Plexiglass it? Huh??

Good question, that is a huge reduction in weight with the seats though!

Hi,
I just wanted to point out that the Brembo brake kit that The Tire Rack sells for the Mini Cooper does not include rear rotors. Also, the new front disc size is 320mm x 20mm not the 322mm x 28mm in the article. That is a $2450 kit from The Tire Rack

Someone sells a replacement cloth panel for the sunroof (that slides back, accordian-style.) Wonder if they got one of those?

I know it was a british company selling it, but can't recall who.

They did replace it with Lexan. Pretty trick mod.

Perfpow is spot on with the Brembo kit.

Having "gone turtle" in a pair of cars , I have learned a few things. One , never undo your harness until you have got one arm ready to help stop your mellon from hitting the roof. Two , Things seem to happen very slowly when you flip, You seem to have a ton of time to thing about many things. As cool as lexan is ,I would feel better with some tin up there on top. The lexan would not be to easy to mount up there, I quess you could drill holes and put in clips like they do with lexan windows but they also ride in the stock window tracks with the stock gasket to hold them in. Metal is easy, start up the welder. Anybody know how they did it?

I don't know exactly - but the reference is in the mag to the person who did the work.

They do have a cage in the car, so the roll-over issue isn't that much of a concern (as another fellow "turtle club" member). With the seats they used, you really need a cage anyway.

I'll look tomorrow and try to find the reference to who did the work.

part 2 was cool. my copy of the mag got ruined in the boot of my MINI by a leaky beer cooler. fortunately i had already read the part about the MINI and my boot recovered nicely. i got a little lost reading the instructions though as i haven't ever taken that much of my MINI off and poked it with a stick. plus the pictures didn't make it easy to see what parts they were referring to sometimes. i so wish i could afford to do stuff like this to my MINI.

i need to get a job at a MINI dealer or a shop of some kind where i can do this stuff full time. then i would get paid to do something i love instead of sitting in a cubicle all day...
