It is important to note here that Peter arranged for Chris to drive from Charleston to Greenville today to make sure this customer is "delighted" with his M7 AGS....... think about it...offered to fly here giving up Palm Springs with the family, and another one of his customers is so loyal that he is taking his Saturday to help him and the customer..... the bar keeps getting higher

Yes, do tell. I was tied up on Sat or I would have called. I'm kicking myself for not cancelling my plans. Still want to see that AGS up close.

Can the pump be moved to the stock air box location?
Anyone that can whittle aluminum can make the V.3 AGS fit the M62.

possibly, and you make a good point, but the project's main focus is to get the 62 kit to work first .....embelishments may come later.......

From the pictures of the prototype, it appears the M62 kit would necessitate a new intake plenum...ala...short aluminum tube that would mimic the AGS anyway...only shorter

Hi all,

sorry I didn't see this thread earleir. I did the instructions, as Peter mentioned. It took me 4.5 hours, as a first timer, and taking all the photos. But I'm sure that I could have done a better job, the wonders of hind sight!

So when you put your own in, if you run into some issue that isn't well covered in the installation guide, please PM me a little note to let me know what parts can be improved, or what I'd missed. I'll incorporate that stuff into a new version and get it to Peter ASAP.

That said, I've been driving on this for about a month. And I have a 60mm TB as well. There are times when I'm really surprised at the pull! That's for sure... And when you floor it, you sure hear that it's there as well.

But because it's open to the engine bay, it can heat soak like the HAI does. I've driven a few times without the heat shield, and it sure makes a difference routing what cool air there is around the filter. Makes a noticable difference.

Anyway, the thing works.

Also, the throttle response issue isn't a drive by wire issue. It's due to the large intake volume that our cars have. The AGS reduces this volume and improves the flow as well.

Matt

Glad to hear about your experience Matt...I thought you might like it as I do

I added a "third" wall onto the AGS shroud closest to the motor side to further isolate heat soak...this also helps to capture the air forced into my enlarged opening...further improvement included dremeling out the blank holes at the extreme driver side Aero Grill...

The bare aluminum inside the shroud attached by the rivets...

If you look at the pics on the "62" thread you will see a custom tube...... we did have the AGS on but did not take the extra steps of the heat shield and cutting the front vent ala MSFITOY...... so I never really got to evaluate the performance...... when it was determined that I could not use it,.....it was going to be extra work......and it was 100 degreees in the shop and getting the car apart etc with Chris's car needing surgery for bad IC boots we just never got around to it......

I don't think there's room....

for the AGS. AS it is, the filter barely fits! Since the 62 is longer......

But think about it this way: You'll get an intake tube if you do the 62, has to come with the kit.

Then you have all the 45 specific parts to sell off to offset the cost of the 62 upgrade! Have an AGS? What about a ported M45 (no one has talked about doing the 62 with a ported/polished SC)? Between the two of them, that's almost $1k in the pocket to offset the upgrade costs.....

about 1 - 1 1/2 years ago I started this quest to either port the 45 or use a 62 and at the time the ported 45 in some cases lowered power..... I had a lot of conversations with a several people and there was no conclusive info that porting a 45 on a highly modded engine would do anything......there was a case of a port job adding about 10 whp and there was case of a port job losing 10 whp and no one...I mean no one would stand up and say "this will do that".......I started to look at the 62 .... could get no one excited about it...... when I talked to Dave about 6 mo ago and he told me his interest..... I got very excited .....

Hey guys I'm kind of a newbie on here. I have searched far and wide but I can't find any numbers for the AGS. Has anyone out there dynoed before and after? I really like the design but I want to know numbers before raking out that much cash.

You may get them via PM

but the launch of the AGS was slow. Some very enthusiastic fans leaked the dev early on, and between flame wars, dev hitches and the like, everyone got real pissy and the numbers aren't really public.
Another issue is because the install is involved, no one has posted any before and after runs due to the time between intakes.
There was the Motoring Underground Intake Shoot Off, and while the efforts were commendable, their statistics were lacking, but the AGS did better than the Alta or the Helix. But the numbers were pretty low (a couple fo HP).
My take is that this is the only intake that does ANYTHING after the TB. But honestly, I don't know when the benefit comes into play. I do know that on my car, I can really feel the difference, most of the time...... There are some cases when I feel the effects of heat soak, but it goes away pretty fast.

So it only makes a few horsepower? I thought SpiderX said it was a huge gain?

No, I said that the motoring underground only found a few HP,

but that theier statistics weren't good. Also, it was a stock car that was tested. I know that I feel the difference (and I've been G-Teching for a while, so I know it's not fake). FWIW, earlier in my mod evolution, I tested larger TBs, and found no difference. Now I can feel the difference between a stock and 60 mm TB.

Frankly, I was surprised at how strong it felt. If there were no heat soak issues, it would be perfect.
