Drivetrain Hydraulic Problems - Clutch
Hydraulic Problems - Clutch
Driving yesterday in stop-and-go traffic, all of a sudden the clutch would not engage and it was impossible to put the car in gear. After calling with the great Mini Service people at Downtown Mini (Orlando), they diagnosed the problem as a possible leaking "sleave cylinder" and advised me to pump the clutch and see if I could get it in gears to drive to the dealership. This worked and there was indeed a leak in the sleave. They had a loaner ready for me when I got there.
I had not heard of this problem before, have any of you experienced a similar problem? Also, now it is fixed but still working out (even though the bled it out three time) the clutch which is not yet back to normal operation, They have assured me that after useage it will improve and return to normal feel. Keeping my fingers crossed. Other than that the car drives great!

Hey there,
This has happened to me several times on my GM work truck ( 3500HD ). Chances are the seals in the slave cyl. went bad - it happens, but not often. Your clutch should feel "normal" right away or very soon after they fix it. If not then they might not have bled all the air out of the line - in that case they have to bleed again or use a "power" bleeder.
At least you got it to the dealer - when mine goes out, its dead!
Good luck
