custom exhaust

i have read posts by a couple people with custom exhausts. today i went to an exhaust shop to tell the guy what i wanted. he deals with all mandrel bent and SS metal. i ended up not going with the straight pipe idea and came up with something that looks like the alta exhaust. the only pipes he uses are 2.5 and 3 inch. would 3 in be too big? how big of a HP gain will i see. i dont want to spend money on a custom exhaust when i can just pay a little more for one with known HP numbers. any input would be great

I'm in the same boat as you. I want a 3" exhaust, and the only place you can get it is Webb, and even there they've only sold a few due to development hold-ups. Those HP gain numbers have been impressive. If I do make a custom exhaust, it will be a 3". I just wonder what muffler and resonator will produce the deepest and non-ricey sound as possible. Also, you should be able to expect a good weight drop.

yeah i dont want it to sound like my friends integra. i figure if i keep the basic shape and size as the webb with a good muffler, i'll get around the same numbers. big bucks for the webb, a lot cheaper for custom.

Have the shop price out the Magnaflow products. There is a local custom exhaust shop here and he has some great systems built with them.

Welcome ***** ! I am actually in Bend. But I am sure there are some good shops in the Portland area. Try posting on the PDXMINI board https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...splay.php?f=60 for recommendations.

magnaflow is all the guy deals with. the only tip that would fit because of the bend and length is a big oval one. i dont really mind but i would like to keep the dual style. what other kinds of mufflers are good. maybe if i buy them it would keep the cost down
