From reading the instructions it seems fairly complicated, even though the whole thing is only a short (3-4") shaft and a few set screws.
The MiniMadness short shift kit is the same Rogue kit that I have and of course I like it...I still have it...but not for long

No, I don't think your understanding me. . . I'll take pics tomorrow and post so you can understand what I'm saying. Everyone doesn't shift this way already . . .

Unless I am mistaken, what 02///MCS is referring to is the manner of shifting where your palm is on the driver's side of the **** - as opposed to on the top of the ****. Having one's palm cupped against the driver's side of the **** forces the thumb to be pointing directly down at the shift boot. This hand position exerts more pressure towards the passenger side of the car when shifting, hence makes the shift from 5th to 6th more of a sure thing...

BTW, this is what Bob Bondurant recommends for shifting technique. For shifting from 1st - 2nd, and 3rd - 4th, he recommends cupping the palm over the top of the shifter ****, gently, as if it were fragile like an egg, with the fingers pointing down along the metal part of the shifter, and then gently pulling straight back, easing it into gear. He states that it is important for that millisecond pause in the neutral gate. Hard, rough shifts add to the wear on the shifiter/tranny and are more likely to cause one to grind gears. By using this technique, shifting into the proper gear is more assured - at least I have found things to be that way.

OK, now I get it. That's clear. Incidentally, that's the way I usually shift from 5th to 6th just because I've found it works best that way for me... never had anyone tell me to do it that way. I guess I was thrown off by the mention of thumb pointing at the headliner.

Lots of discussion about everything except for cost! What does it cost to get one of these kits installed?

It is a bit of work. I am about to do it soon but am waiting for my new exhaust to arrive so I don't have to do it twice.

You need to drop a section of the exhaust to reach the box to change out the shifter.

I'm not sure of the time but I think it is a good 3-6 hour job but could be very wrong.... Granted I don't know what it would cost to have done as I prefer to be adventerous and learn on my own

Sorry, I work in IT and hints and vaporware puts me into an instant coma

Just kidding though. About 2 years ago I tried to get interest in a redesigned shifter tower or spacer to raise the shfter height and yet keep the short stroke. Ala WRC.

No interest from anyone. Of course now someone will come out with one and it'll cost me $350.

this is the one I have... won it at the dragon so I figure it is worth a try. Worse case scenario it gives me a chance to learn the install process so I can try something different when it comes out....

I had a B&M short shift kit installed that cost me ~$500. Which is about par considering it did take quite a while to get installed, probably on the order of 3 hours.

Took me a couple hours.
I also took the time to polish the pivot *****. They do/used to ship with a machined surface. 600 and then 1000 grit did a nice job.

I think it should be out by then but I'll check and get back to you...I'm just saying that for those of you considering shifter options, there is a very inovative and functional design out on the horizon...It has been designed (I have actual CAD data in hand) and probably will be prototyped very soon...maybe this interest will put a fire under the producers butt I'm pretty certain Onasled will have it in his race car and hopefully me second
