i am trying to get the most hp for the buck.....
without risking reliability.
mini mania advertises 20hp from their 15%

 

A 15% pulley is a 15% pulley as far as power to be gained. In other words all pulleys that are the same size give you the same power gain.Ron

I'd say that a 15% would give you +/- 20 HP. Probably closer to 18. But, yes. This is the best bang for your buck.

 

Depends on the dyno you use I suppose. In Europe, you might be getting 30hp+. Don't worry about numbers, it's the best thing you can do for your MINI.

[edit] Are 15% pullies really created equally, WMS says theirs is the best. I don't really understand their explanation so...

 

15% pulley, alta intake, and borla sport, I got a gain of 22hp.

 

so its about 18. 2 more for alta. 2 for borla..... more or less?
at least in that combo.

 

19% will give you a lot more than 20hp.. :P

 

but i heard so much about over-reving and need for injectors.....and so on and so on

 

psh...i dont see anyone with 19% pulleys complaining about any problems whatsoever... at that your s/c is only rated for what...100k miles...with a 15% 85k miles...19% ~80K miles...

And you can get the jcw intake and injectors for like $450?? that with a 19%...you should be golden..

That aside, I dynoed mine and I didn't even hit 10hp with the 15% pulley so I must've dynoed it on a conservative dynojet... However, I did gain 20 hp or so at some points in the rev range, just not at the peak. The magic number is my torque though, I gained 18lb-ft at the peak.

See, I'm the rational one of the group. I'm 21 and I'm nowhere near MSFIT or Spillman.

Do the 19% and then get the JCW injectors for $250, then save up for some software, GIAC, MTH, whatever. It's not that bad. You did get the MCS. Stop seeing your girlfriend or postpone getting a girlfriend and you'll find some newfound wealth.

what about 17%, JCW injectors, and the MTH tuner file...... how much HP do you think that could get......might as well your only young once right?

I would personally recommend GIAC if you have a dealer close, but MTH tuner is good too I suppose.

I would say yes...but I never checked it with out the intake and exhaust

I gained a total of 26 WHP

I had BenFer Performance stage III intake, UUC Exhaust, 15% pully By Global Motor Werks

 

It has to be okay when it feels so good. That said, I'm done after these next few mods. I need to start being rational.
