Choose your stats, man, I'll choose mine.

Did you even read Randy Web's statements? If so, what besides your own experience do you refute his claims with?

1. The words of Eric @ Helix.

2. The experience of like every person on these forums with a 19%...people in hawaii (avg ambient temp of what 80F??) that track their 02 mini's with 19% pulley's with no problems whatsoever.

3. Real world > paper world

What is questionable anymore?? My car had jcw when I got it, ~14.7% boosting at ~15.6psi. Now with 17% I am boosting 18.8psi and feel the power all the way through the powerband.

I'm not gonna go on anymore with you untill I see all these stats your talkin about...

for me, debating this issue, the question is the ever-increasing cost. There's a slippery slope where if you add a 19% then you need injectors.. and a new belt... and probably tuning... and...

Yes, you get more performance, but the $ keeps going up and up.

To me, a simple <$1000 installed CAI+15%+Exhaust gives me JCW-like (or better) performance. I drove a JCW and loved it, but couldn't justify the $6000 badge.

But then again, more boost always sounds good

How many of the 19% finished that mini race a year or so ago?

I think thats where the 19% pulley gets its rep.

o-ron, honestly thats what happens with any car if you are looking for performance. why becuase people always tie up the weakest link......problem is once you improve the weakest link out pops another one...... and the cycle is on going!
thats why i love cars!

yep, that's why i like the more sensible well-rounded approach. upgrade a couple parts for a moderate boost, rather than pushing one component hard which then leads to another and then another....

edit: but then again, it's all still just theory because i don't even have my car yet! :-P

Anyways, I installed my 19% on Thursday and just got the GIAC at Autodynamica on Friday. It took awhile since GIAC didn't have the program for my particular ECU so he had to get Garret to whip up the program right then. All I can say is that it is simply awesome. There's just so much torque. Now, my butt dyno isn't tuned very well because when I got the 15%, I didn't really notice it that much, but the 19%/Injectors/GIAC makes the MINI feel like a totally different car. There's no more lag and passes in 6th gear are so quick.

I watched randy rip through a belt at laguna seca...and if he stands behind all his talk that means he is running his 15%...

Also didn't onalsed shred a belt on the track? with 15%

I haven't seen any 19s or 17s with shredded belts stories, they just take proper maintnence and replace their belts when it looks like its goin bad....

I have a 19% with no injectors, although now that I have seen the JCW for $250 i might have to save up and do injectors and software sooner than i thought... I've had my 19% pulley on for about 4 complete months and roughly 4,000 miles... No signs of the belt going bad yet... And I live in Miami where the avg. ambient temp isn't lower than 90*F lolol...

EDIT* I haven't dynoed because I just don't care, my car makes loads more power over stock.. My car is much livelier now and I stay neck and neck with my friends G35 5AT (CAI, TestPipe, Y-Pipe)... if you ask me, that speaks for the mods themselves, a stock MCS wouldn't even get close...

I got a pulley done at Scientific Automotive in Pasadena. It was just over $300 and they did a great job. It won't matter what day you can make it then and it will be less money spent.
