Drivetrain Brembo Gt kits!
Currently Brembo has not provided me with a part number for any rear rotors. I however know that rear rotors were used in the current issue Of European Car Magazine. I am reseaching as to what part, and its availability. As of today I would run a Power Slot rotor in the rear if an upgrade was desired. I wil keep you posted

Hi CooperSpeed,
I run an automatic Cooper with custom paint and graphics, it also has the aero body kit.
If you want the best brake for the money you need to check out our web site and see the front and rear brakes for the Mini. They are The Brakeman brakes, they are the only one that fit 16 inch rims. Most important they stop better then Brembo, they add off the line speed because of unsrung wieght savings, they are on the worlds fastest Viper and they sound coool when you stop. I have 11,000 miles on the prototype set, the pads have 5 to 7,000 more miles to go. and when they make them for my SUV I'll put them on that also. Many people in So CAL. have seen them and driven them, they all are in awe of how they look and work.
My car has been in SEMA and LA Auto show and will be in 6 more shows this year. I use it in solo II events and it has 23,000 miles on it. On the last run which I was not on it but someone else drove it, he was first up the mountain. Being several S's. The only mods to the engine is Nology wires, they work and the Pipercross Viper intake. The Pipercross is the best on the market, it is the only one for the Cooper that isolates under bonnet hot air from the intake. It will increase your torque off the line and it will not show HP gains. The customers that own one won't trade them back for twice the money, they love them. One custoomer just put it on his Cooper and loved it so musch he had to put one on his Volvo V40 now he can peel out form a stop, because of torque not HP which is so miss leading it sn't funny. I see people talk about dyno this and dyno that. Well if they went to a man who would not be willing to put out flalse info they wouldn't have anything to say. I would be willing to pay to have out dyno tester do any test as long as the results are published. Bart won't lie for any money.
My exhaust is total custom made for the Mini by a private designer just for us. It adds 30 % bottom end torque and that's why this car keeps up with the S's on the hills, this exhaust wieghts 15 pounds more than most so we may not make it. Why? because most people think saving wiegtht is important and they could care less about torque gains, they only want to buy what other people say is cool because they can't figure things out for themselves. I would be able to beat most S's if I could lock the automatic into gear. we are doing research on this now but it's slow.
I work at Diamond Racing Group. Last June I spent a great amount of time in England sorting out who is who from a parts side. I've seen the Pipercross production and everything is hand made, beautiful to see not mass produced like K&N and they attempt to do things right. They aren't perfect but niether are you or I they just live up to the motto "do it right the first time". Anyway the worlds fastest
0 to 60 car uses Pipercross 2.6 secs., as does Lotus, Lotus is only one of 11 OEM manufactuers that put them on at the factory. This is an impressive statement.
They are running this season on Volvo's european s60 race team and here in the USA on a pro Mini race team. So when I hear about green filters which are made in france (small f) for small thinkers. I wonder WHY? if your going to use cotton gauze why not sell a USA made product. K&N They are my competitor but they are the number one marketing company in the automotive business. The Pipercross I sell are better than K&N but not so well know in the USA. So I have much work to do and need dealers to help, but we will make it this year.
If I said too much forgive me, I have watched this site become a great forum and needed to say a few things. If you Cooperspeed order anything from us I will give you 10% off for letting me speak so long on your page.
I love America and ask it be blessed if we go to war.

Seems like he was asking Dan if the Brembos (see thread title) were available for the rear.
To which cyrathbun (aka diamondmini and foodie) from Diamond MINI responds:
And this has what to do with the BREMBOS?
This seems to be the only comment possibly relevant to the thread. And even then, CooperSpeed asked DAN about the Brembos.
What do SEMA, the LA Auto Show, dynos, or your friend Bart have to do with the Brembos?
..even more off the topic of this thread.
same comment. What does this have to do with anything discussed in the thread?
Your inputs may be beneficial, but IMO they are way off the mark to be in this thread.
See Off Topic for further discussions on both those topics.

Its a brand new kit for us. I am having my fitment techs measure this kit carfully. We should know by the beginning of next week exactly what this will or will not accomodate, I will keep you posted here.

You will need a 1in 1/2 from the hat which is where the inside of the wheel bolts to the disc , then measure to the spoke on the wheel ,your not going to get that out of any of the stock wheels without spacers

I have yet to do this fitcheck but here is a quote from presurizedmini from the wheel and tire forum GT kit post
"A little note those will not fit stock wheels without some spacers behind them,or either go for some new wheels. I have them allready"

We just got in our first Brembo brake package for the Mini Cooper S from The Tire Rack. One of the things we will be checking into is the clearancing of the 17" S-Lite wheels to the calipers. We have machined wheels for caliper clearance in the past with the Ruf Speedline wheels. Although this theoretically will weaken the wheel, the machining operation was being performed as per a T.U.V. approved blueprint. If it is possible, we will clearance the S-Lites so that we can still fit them to the car. Even though I will have high performance tires on my 18' wheels, I still need my S-lites for snow. If it can't be done because of the ID of the wheel, rather than the spokes, then we'll have to sell our S-Lites and buy other wheels.

Can anyone explain why the Brembo kit is so much more expensive than the other big brake kits available? I realize the Brembo brakes are very highly respected, but what exactly do they have that the Stoptech, AP and others do not have?
DK23 you wont have any wheel left if you try to mill the back of your wheels for your brakes. I would just planing on getting new wheels i had to i now have a nice set of R90's for sale though. To answer the question on why Brembo brakes are so expensive, they are a true full performance brakes not show and go brakes some of these other companys have. If you look at most all big time race cars they all run Brembo brakes.
I recognise the Brembo reputation, but am interested in specific advantages over the Stoptech kit. Stoptech is 228 mm rotors, virtually the same as Brembo.
About the Stoptech kit, Helix says" The ultimate braking package for the MINI. This top quality alloy brake kit employs the pinnacle of brake engineering technology. The 228mm modular brake rotors are vented, gas slotted and treated for the most extreme performance driving. The oversized alloy calipers are specifically engineered and tested for the MINI and features the best possible heat dissipation. THE FOUR PISTON CALIPERS DO NOT SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE PISTON VOLUME OVER THE STOCK CALIPERS. This is very important. Many systems suffer PISTON ENVY (a Freudian condition) and put 6, 8, even 10 brake pistons in their calipers. This does not improve brake performance. By having a significantly greater brake piston volume, It changes the brake bias toward the front of the car. When the dirver gets on the brakes, the nose of the car dives dramatically, the ABS deploys (because there is no weight or grip on the rear wheels), and the driver thinks that the car is stopping quicker. This is false. The best brake performance comes from a balanced systems, that best controls heat dissipation. Stoptech engineers have created the best, most balanced system for the MINI. Calipers are black anodized or optional red powder coated.
Makes sense, I would like to hear the specifics of why the extra $1000 for Brembo. I would want more than just the name for that much money.

The B Sharps?
It doesn't matter if you have 4 pot 6 pot that does not determan how your car dives in the front, That is something your going to have to do with the supension settings. The Brembo's are a 320m rotor so that there is bigger than the other brakes, displaces more heat, a floating rotor. I have used Brembo brakes on all of my cars and love them, and since i race motorcycles for a living for Factory Yamaha we also use them on our superbikes,as do all the other Factory teams. I'm not saying the other brakes out there are not as good, You pay for what you get.
