Might be cool to do one in red - especially if you can match the Chilli Red of the MINI!

A big splash of red under the bonnet is always cool - would go nicely with the red intake hose.

So far as price, I agree with everyone that 80 bucks is way to much.

I'd like to propose an "Initial Offering Group Buy" - give it to those of us who have already purchased your CAI for a once in a lifetime deal - something like 30 bucks. I don't want to diminish the quality of your products, but again, we've already spent a chunk with you on the CAI.

What do you say????

The only thing that complicates this is that the sides of the box aren't parallel in height. You can see the diagonal crease Alta had to put in the lid to make it work. I made my template out of a cereal box. This crease and the slope on the rear lip associated with this angle are the only real complications.
Don't have a sheetmetal brake so if you have access to one this is pretty easy.

You're right though. I did use lexan from Lowe's. Not plexiglas. Can't find than any more.

The price is up in the air right now. Its better to shoot high then surprise people with a lower price. Expect less than $80 in the end for sure.

This part is formed using a CNC press break, and yes it might be something that some people can make, but it is a very precise snug fit. Which is how it fits. Nice snug fit with a tight rubber trim seal. Simple, no drilling clean fit. It is also easily removable when needed.

But maybe the drilling is something people are ok with? If people feel like screws or drilling would be better, that also is an easy thing to change.

As obehave notice, the crease is in it to mate to the passenger side air box wall as it climbs up to meet the plastic fire wall. The nice thing with this is it allows even more free air inside the box compared to it being a flat top.

Colors: For sure we will be doing black, and silver so they match everyones existing parts. The SS part you see will be offered when the SS boxes are offered.

There are always those people who have access to a machine that can build it themselves, that say it should only cost X. But its all relative to the industry you are in. Someone comes out with some electronic $100 gizzmo and there is always that guys who says i could build that with some parts from Digi-key for $10. That may be true, but not everyone can do that.

Keep the suggestions coming!

Any chances of a "Special Price" for those purchasing the whole Intake? (Intake, Silicone AND Top?)

Well you've said you're gonna do the silver to match what a number of owners already have so that takes care of that. Do the proposed group buy for current product owners and I'll buy one.

Maybe that is a good way to get them out there, a special price for those who purchased them in the past. Maybe something like show your reciept from your Alta purchase, and recieve % off. That is a good idea. We are not trying to rip people off with the price by any means, but more or less fulfilling peoples needs and suggestions. We have had and seen people wanting to sell their intake to buy a completely different one just because of the top. So we offered the top.

I own an Alta CAI and want a top.

I think a discount for exsisting customers is only right!

I would be more than happy to pay a fair price!

When will you be set on a price and when can we order it in BLACK??

The black and silver are a go, and the SS is something we are passing on until the SS boxes start shipping.

The discount for ALTA customers is something we will do for sure! But how much??? We will get back to you right away with details.

Just a question. If you just buy a cover, wouldn't that mean you already own the Alta CAI? I don't think you would just buy a cover unless you needed to cover something in the fridge.

I hope Alta doesn't require a reciept for proof of ownership. I'll be at a loss, also.

If that is how we offer the part, using a reciepts, or something, we will not be that picky. So no worries there. Maybe we require a pictue of the intake or something fun. But by no means are we going to penelize people, the idea is to sell parts not hold on to them. If we made it sound like we were going to be very strict about it, sorry, we didn't mean that at all.

Prices and exact details to follow.

Does the JCW Strut Bar fit over the Alta? And if so, how would the "Box Top" affect this?

Thx

Strut bar goes under the hood, The ALTA w/out a top seals to the hood, can't vouch for the top though (yet)

Ahh, so it's the Alta (and similar Intakes) where folks have cut the "Box" in order to get the bar fitted, right?

Then I guess I'll just have to wait and see how the Top affects this

Thx

yeah that pretty much the consensus, might be able to "cut" the box and have a top fit over it though, I can't vouch for it.
