19%...Wow

I just had Eric @ Helix install a 19% on Friday. Wow. THe car is much much much much faster, and a lot more fun. Very happy I did it.

However, the one downside is that my fuel consumption dipped to about 22.4 MPG from 24.... So I seem to be using a little more gas than I'd like, and I really didn't think about this before. So those of you out there, careful when you get the pulley if you can't afford the gas. Other than that, the car is amazing.

if 19 percent pulley - i would expect bigger injectors, and remapped ECU software.. correct no?

Cool, another happy Helix customer. I'm looking forward to my visit.
Did you do any other mods?

You can see helix pricing on their website.

in response to the questions:

the pulley with a new belt was $410

it was my second mod, I also have an HAI...

eric is awesome, and helix is a great little shop. you also need to go to pat's for cheesesteaks.

what's next is a jcw shift **** and also maybe tints...what's needed is tires...

I will probably do an ecu flash when I have the cash... injectors I am skipping out on...

funny you should ask... I actually blew out the vacuum line on the way home... went from 9psi at redline stock to about 19 psi at 5.5k with a 19%

Thats some difference...
What do you mean you blew out the vacuum line?
Is that just the line for the mechanical gauge?
Don't make me nervous about my upcoming pully upgrade.

$410 - seems a little steep.

$410 is kinda high, but he was a professional and helped rotate my tires and gave me a new belt and decals... so it was worth it

don't be nervous about the upgrade, my gauge is fine now... don't be afraid to go to 5.5k and 6 k, that's where you're really gonna feel it if you wanna give it some juice

I've been averaging 20MPG before and after my 15% pulley.

if it was at only 9psi stock, your car has a serious air leak somewhere. stock is around 10.5-11 psi

Be forewarned, larger injectors will probably make you take another hit in mileage. The software will absolutely need to be added at the same time, or else you'll be running really rich [gobs of extra fuel] most of the time. With properly leaned out software, you could get that mileage back [and maybe improve on it!], but that depends on how much work went into the software. I don't have much experience with the GIAC that helix sells, but I have heard good things about it's driveability. Good luck!

if you are boosting 19 psi, i would believe your engine light on the tach should be turning on like crazy. my guess is that you are making around 17 psi or maybe a little more with a 19%. at 18 psi the light go on and the car go into limp mode.

So how much faster can the car be? Works fast? or faster?
My bmw 330i was 6.0 to 60... you think w/ a 19 you could be close to that?

18psi only turns on the SES and the DSC lights, not limp
