I re-read this whole thing...bottom line ....guy makes a change...likes it ... provides a dyno sheet .... is up front about the testing proceedure.... does not offer it up as scientific data.... just "A" data point for discussion and he feels like his car is running better after the change.....

I have a drawer full of dyno sheets and I don't know if I will ever do another one.... Look at the DR. he is probably conducts the closest to scientific proceedure that we have and he is the first to say how difficult it is to dyno a Mini with repeatable accuracy closer than pretty loose +/- tolerances. (btw Randy Webb and Peter H feel the same way)

due to all the factors that are well known to those of us who have followed all the dyno reports and consequent flame jobs can attest to this,...it is damn near impossible to get repeatable numbers. (IMO) On one day in Birmingham, AL., we saw drops of 10 hp from one run to the next......

that being said...... only a few of us who have the HDI also had the Alta....since the difference in performance is within the +/- resolution of the testing proceedure all I can say is my car feels better with the HDI.....small but better...the Alta is no slouch....it is normal for products to have life cycles and every product at the top has people shooting at it....while I am not claiming the Alta is done for...it now has some very strong competition.

I'm wouldn't be so sure there is a significant difference until you can demonstrate that the drop is repeatable for the Alta.
Way OT but, good to read some posts from you again

Reading all of this is making my head spin...

so overall... the HDI or Alta... all a matter of preference???

I am thinking of going with the alta...I like the looks.. but a difference of hp may make me go HDI...

I like the foam filter of the HDI..just not the box....

maybe mini madness cai... hummm

Not that it would make much difference in tone but was the system running a header?

I'm hoping someone around here buys one.

Air in air out its all the same

those looking to get an intake, I say but one with a filter then box and insulate it, unless all you want is noise, then just go HAI.
