Just keep the data straight and screw the spelling

put the HDI on today

no dyno but I have a drawer full of them and the bills to prove it..... took the Alta off and put the HDI on... the car feels stronger especially low end torque.... I know my car pretty well and the results that have been posted are very believable to me. Add that I like the sound of the HDI better.... more refined IMO. Cosmetically there is no comparison the HDI is very cool, again IMO. bottom line Alta is for sale

Glad to hear it.
I've thought the same. Very subjective. Since many will tell you you can't tell the difference in a few HP I never said anything. You're braver than I am

After looking at the designs of the various intakes for the MCS, the dyno results and how they are dyno tested, I've come to the conclusion that the Webb HDI must be the best. Why do I think this? Simple. When cars are on the dyno they typically have the hood open and a fan blowing air into the engine compartment. From what I understand, this is especially important with the MCS b/c you want to avoid heat soaking the intercooler. For open box intakes (i.e. Alta, Helix, etc.) this allows them to draw a lot more air than they would on the road (with the hood closed) because they're not just sucking it from the cowl area. As these conditions don't even come close to simulating real world conditions (with the hood closed), how can the dyno results be reliable? As we know, the Webb HDI uses a closed box, so the dyno results won't be impacted by the open hood nearly as much. In fact, the dyno results for any closed box intake (Webb HDI, JCW, DINAN, etc) should be a better indication of real world gains than the dyno results for open box intakes. Any thoughts?

Is there any risk of the longer filter picking up water (rain) from the cowl area?

Randy installed one at the VA pulley party a couple weeks ago. It did fit over the HDI box when the two center screws on the intake top were removed.

Take some time to really look at the designs, and then re-think this. I 'think' you may be misunderstanding how each of these CAI work.

I think what jaynicholson was saying is that the open top box design of the Alta would benefit more from the hood being open{durring dyno testing} than the closed style air box would. I also tend to think that this would be true.

I can verify this as well I was there.
You will need to buy some button head bolts./

Would you need the head bolts as the strut bar would hold it down, no?

You could probably run it with one bolt missing TBH but after paying all that money why ugly it up?
If the bar were too close the rattle would be nuts.

I feel good about my butt dyno because if you read my threads on the Alta vs the HDI it agrees with the dyno..... to Tuls point... not enough to make much of a dif but, I could tell a dif... mostly in throttle response and peak power..... the power seems to develop a bit faster w the HDI...... I spent a rediculous amount of money for extruded snoots and intake manifold for about the same power increase... I happen to think the HDI balances the sound with the Milltek better so I can now hear both....
All due respect to the Alta.....there are enough out there that I would look for a used one, if I was going new between the two I really like my HDI.... I don't know about the new cover for the Alta......but I wonder

Also, without a TC almost all these mods are small increments......5hp is enough considering cost for me to pull the trigger......Tuls with your 340 whp monster 5 whp is a moskito on an elephants ***

Yea, but if you do 5hp enough times.....

It fits...the two middle "bolts need to be changed to a flatter design than provided
