Is dynotuning worth it...

when I only have a 15% pulley and a HAI?

I'm getting my pulley put in the Friday after next and doing a pre/post dyno. Should I bother getting it dynotuned? Also, I was thinking of doing baseline without the HAI. Should I bother reinstalling the HAI for the post-pulley run or not bother? I think he'll charge me for time, and I don't really feel like being charged money for something I spent $35 on. What do you guys think?

its all up to you.

Alright, if i had the money and time i would have done a baseline before i started with any of the mods, but time was not on my side. Now that i have my 15% and Alta i am going to do some runs with my gtech. While it is not going to be as accurate as a wheel dyno, it should be somewhat consistant as long as i use the same road and conditions for each test. Wish i could have used a real dyno though.

To dynotune...

you need something that can tune the car. So if you don't have a Unichip or something else that can be changed (GIAC, MTH, EvoTech, Apexi etc), there's nothing TO tune...... All you can do is have the car measured.

But measuring the Mini on the dyno is a bit of an art. The coolant temp shouldn't be too high, and you need the correct airflow through the IC for it to do it's thing.

Okay, well, I guess that answers it since I don't have any of the above.

I have faith in the shop that I'm going to, bavarianhypersport, as they have a decent reputation on coopersport and MTH uses them.

Regarding the HAI, anybody got an opinion?

I like mine, but haven't tested the benefit. I couldn't resist the price.

I have one and I like it also. I was just trying to get people's opinion's on if I should pay the shop to reinstall my HAI after the first dyno or if I shouldn't bother. I mean, it would be kind of sad to have to spend more money on him reinstalling it than on the HAI itself if you know what I mean.

Learn to install it yourself...it is SUPER easy, and should take about 15 min tops once you have done it once. If you could get a before and after dyno (or two or three ) with a HAI there would be a lot of people on the board that would be very happy.

For the record...Im running a HAI and love it.

I have it installed... I was going to uninstall it to get a baseline before my pulley install. The question is whether I, or rather the shop, should bother to reinstall the HAI before my post-dyno since the reinstallation time might cost me more than the HAI which just bothers me. Although, theoretically, the shop should be able to just pull the tubing, leaving the airbox intact, and put the intake on without even screwing it on. It should stay put, right?

There is no way I'm paying for a separate dyno run for the HAI. There's already been other dyno runs on the HAI put up on here and people will always find fault, so... I don't really see the point. Now, if you guys want to paypal me the money to do the dyno, I'll do it... Deja Vu.
