The screw top on the Fidanza starts as a half inch and then becomes 12 mmX1.25 (strange); the extension/adaptor is threaded accordingly and slightly tapered to snugly accept the ****. The UUC **** has a setscrew to keep it from moving and is stepped internally to match the stock shaft shape. There is a picture in my gallery that shows the rearward shifter bias once installed. The extra **** height accentuates the angle. I know you are a Physics kind of guy so you can figure out the advantage of arcs to approaching angles.

UUC fabricated a shifter replacement for the early models almost two years ago but put production on hold when the new style came out. They wanted to make one that could go either way, in the mean time the project lost priority at UUC and I gave up. I have used the **** well over two years so this short shifter combo was a top down design.

since shift ***** seem to be in the converstaion....

anyone using the JCW motorsports solution? I guess we can order direct if you are willing to pay overseas shipping. Its the same used in the mini challenge.

I also noticed that Turner Motorsports has a direct replacement, carbon fi unit...

Looks nice...

I have the B&M on my 03 S, and very happy with it. I like the fact it is slotted on the end to except the stock shift ****, as well as threaded for an after market one. Recently I was thinking of buying another **** design however, and when I called the factory to get the thread size and pitch, they threw me a real curve-ball dimension. M12 X 125?? I can't believe that's the size, the 125 is wierd. I'll have to get out the thread gauge check it out.

I edited my earlier post due to inverted notes, the 14mm was a block plug I was gauging at the same time. So it appears the B&M and the Fidanza share the some thread.

There should be a decimal point after the "1".
M12 x 1.25 is correct.

Thanks for the confirmation of M12 X 1.25 Mr. Whalen Machine, (and sorry I left out the decimal point). I never heard of a 1.25 thread in a 12mm fastener before, and it threw me for a loop. As you know, the common thread for a 12mm machine bolt is 1.75.
Thanks again.
