Were you using a 3" header when you were talking about the loss of power between the 2.5" and 3" exhaust? Currently I have plans to put on a header that has a 2.5" collector, but I was told that putting on a 3" exhaust would be a waste due to the restriction of the header I am putting on.

I want it to also be where Randy wants it ... I prefer to not be the obnoxious one driving down the street.

Another thing I wanted to bring up....

In the STi world I know a lot of guys running an electronic dump that have two programs, a "stock" program for a closed exhaust, and a "dump" program for the open exhaust mainly due to the drastic difference between the flow rates of the two positions of the exhaust. I'm assuming that the flow of the open exhaust might be enough to warrant a different fuel map, and perhaps timing to really extrude the possible power from it.

Has this been thought about before? Would getting a tune on the closed system be counterproductive to the open system? Would getting a tune on the open system make the closed system run crappy?

No, we have seen the gains with the stock 2.25" and an aftermarket 2.5" header.

We looked at tuning with the open and closed positions, but the Seimens unit certainly sees what is going on, as there is no difference in the A/F ratios between the two. I can understand needing it on lesser ECU control, but the MINI is certainly top notch - the only thing missing is wide band O2 to remain in closed loop.

Hope that helps!
Randy
