If you have a Mac and iMovie it is dirt simple, just plug and play.

I think it's his in-house intercooler. Go over to Web Motorsports and check it out. It's a little too $$$ for most.

WOW what the hel did I start LOL. I was just wanting to know if anyone was going to track a twincharge car and look what happens. All I want to see is if a twin charge will stand up to a full track day event before I lay down eight or nine thousand dollars. I don't really care about who wins I would just like to see how it holds up and performs.

It is the WMS/Gintani water-air replacement manifold unit. It's still in testing. You can see it at any of the events this year.

trackster,

I feel you on that point. I am a little nervous as well, but have built a track only TurboKompressor car. The car has been extremely reliable. The only issue he had to date was a clutch failure (so we put in a tougher clutch). That car put down 298 hp at the wheels .

If anyone comes out and rips past us on the straight at Vegas, I plan to upgrade my powerplant with a TurboKompressor. Until then, I'm running what I have (228 hp at the wheels).

Hope that helps!
Randy

without a doubt, if it works, that Gintani is the only way to go. unfortunatley, expect to spend some major cash.

what is the approx 2" dia hose on the right end of the manifold hooked up to...bypass?

Yep - that goes to the bypass valve.

We have also changed the system from a boot - which is pictured at the supercharger exit - to a male/female with an o-ring. That absolutely stops boost loss on high pressure applications.

It definitely works, I am just trying to hammer out the costs to make it a viable system (like $2500 or so instead of $3200). Remember, this system comes with a complete replacement manifold, a supercharger outlet, the intercooler (which is integrated in the manifold), the bypass valve inlet, the reservoir (seen in the passenger side cowl area), all the AN fittings, the hoses, a Bosch water pump, and the wiring harness.

Hope that helps!

Randy, you know me, have to ask... what is the complete weight of the system?

Also, any word if they are purusing CARB certification? I believe they are/were a CA company...

Hey, in the above photo what exactly is that where an OCC would be? I see a breather filter, but can't make-out the rest...

Thanks much!

Just curious why the AN fittings have hose clamps instead of the normal threaded compression clamp

That is an oil catch can - I wanted something small that didn't weigh much. It is a composite material. I have the weight of the system somewhere - it surprisingly didn't weigh much more than the stock system - most likely because we removed quite a few pieces from the stock set up. I'll look for it.

As for the numbers on the system - they are impressive. I'm not going to post any until we are ready to go - numbers are a stocky thing around here!

Hope that helps!

They are push on style clamps for non SS lines, and in theory don't require clamps - but I am **** with race cars and airplanes!

Push on = pull off

Gotcha. The only AN stuff I ever used was with braided lines.

Maybe we ought to ask what kind of efficiency (vs. OE) it affords? Some folks will undoubtedly assume 'gains' to be synonymous with a finite HP number, and as we all (should) know there ain't no such thang.

Randy: In its current form will the Gintani and TurboKompressor kit fit under the bonnet harmoniously? If yes... What would you guess cost for a "TKG" kit would be? …Pricey no doubt ...but had to ask.

So, does this officially rekindle the old Gintani thread?

Yes, that helps .

Thanks Randy! One of the best things about whatever the performance numbers are... they don't degrade after the first couple of laps... at least from what you shared with me a few days ago... That's huge, and something a comparison dyno will fail to convey. Lap times my friend, and I'm sure that's comin'...

Dang, I just ate an entire pack of bacon! Probably just took 6 months off my life...

I'm popping some popcorn as I type this waiting for the inevitable bashing from the M7 crowd. Any over /unders here want to take that bet?

This system if done properly will help with the heat soak issues that happen on the Mini. In theory it is much better than current water to air systems. I guess time and testing will tell the final story. I can't wait to find out.

The parts for this system add only about 1 lb of extra weight when you consider the major heavy parts that are replaced. With the larger coolant reservoir (@1.5 gallon capacity), you can expect about another 12 lb in weight. A lot of information was posted by me on the original Gintani intake manifold-intercooler thread. Thanks...

So to speak is correct. I'm not really stepping up to the plate per se. It's more that I had planned to do a track day in Vegas ever since AMVIV I...but the planets didn't align ( Cudo's to Agro and his team who coordinated the Phil Wicks Driving academy to coincide with this year's AMVIV) So anywho, it's not that I need to race it, I need to get the power down on a track where it's safe to find the limits of myself, not necessarily the limits of the car. My ability to drive (or inability) should not reflect upon the quality or power of the SPI PowerExcel / FTR twincharge kit.
Well due to recent circustances, I'm not going to be participating in the HPDE. Too expensive for instruction and only 1 15 minute track session. See
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...9&goto=newpost
for more information about Phil Wicks using the same track on the same day for both his race series and for his school. Only one session will be available for the school drivers (three total, but segregated into 3 distinct levels students).
