Drivetrain My Pipercross is irritating the bonnet insulation.help
I don't think it is serious, but i would like to fix it if possible. I drive A CVT and recently installed the pipercross cone filter. A few days later i noticed that the insulation had become "fuzzier" than it usually was. It looks as if the insulation is being sucked off, rather than scraped/rubbed off.
I've tried moving it around a bit, but it's hard to determine the right position while the hood is open.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The best you can do is move it as far below that hood line as far as you can get it. Piper has a real issue here and I suspect that if you contact them, or where you bought it form - they should have some feedback as to what to do.
Case in point - the Moss intake kit we sell had this issue -the high end of the filter was rubbing away the bonnet liner under the hood. Moss was gracious enough to send me smaller replacement filters for every kit we sold (plus some extras) so we could correct the problem.

Hello A Ritz,
As I do not know your name. Who did you purchase your Pipecross filter from? Was it from us at Diamond Racing?
Pipercross USA is Part of Diamond Racing Group. Known as Diamond Racing in the Mini World. So, I do not know what is included in the other kits if you did not purchase it from Diamond Racing or from Mini-Motorsport. Which are the only two offical Pipercross USA retailers selling Mini parts.
As the Blue Potato said, "Let the Vender you purchased it from know this is happening". If they can not answer your questions then send me a email with the name of the company and we will square this away for you.

Unfortunately I didn't buy it from Diamond Racing, because it seems your company knows alot about the CVT's.
I e-mailed the company and they told me to move it around, like that wasn't an obvious solution
.
The problem is that it is hard to tell if it's far enough away when the bonnet is open, but i think i may have gotten it.
Thank you both for all of your help.

Andrew,
If they won't help you more than that, send the unit to me, and I'll see that you get a unit that works (even though I'm pretty sure I didn't sell it to you).

Andrew - the President of the Florida Mini group knows me and he too had this issue - his quick fix was to cut a small piece of polished aluminum and tack glue it to the underside where your rubbing is happening and it solved the problem. I saw this in person and it looked great even though it was a quick fix - plus he didn't have to remove it and send it back to his point of purchase. I will see if I can get you a picture.
