Hey,
I found a new chip on one of the web sites but can't remember which one. This chip gives you about an extra 14 HP, and in second gear stock you "S" will have peak acceleration at about 4,000 RPM. With the chip it will now peak at about 2,000 to 2,500 RPM (Claimed)

Hey,
I will try to find the sight because it showed all of the graphs and and told everything about how to install it and as I remember that it only costs $300. I'm going to do it because my mini dealer is going to carry aftermarket products and that is one that they will instal and they will keep it under warranty.

REALLY? That's pretty hard to believe. Keep us posted, though - sounds very interesting!

Randy, This seems to be what we are looking for in the in Madness Intake, ECU, and Magnaflow combination to reach our 200 HP goal.

What about the 15% pulley change? Would this ECU upgrade help with what you were talking about in your DYNO tests thread?

Hope it does, then it will definitely exceed the 200 mark.

The EVOTech is a great upgrade (Madness). The curves aren't optimized for the pulley though.

With the intake and exhaust and ECU, the car still doesn't feel as if it has as much power as the car with the intake, exhaust, and pulley. That's without the ECU stuff on the pulley car. I need to get that car up on the dyno though. The numbers for the software I've seen are around 18hp - which is very good - but there is much more available with the pulley+ECU.

I've basically reached the 200hp mark at the flywheel - but I want it at the wheels (and then some) .

Hope that clears it up - let me know if you have more questions or need clarification.

What about without the pulley? Would the Evotech chip with the Madness intake and magnaflow exhaust bring the S to about 195hp at the flywheel? Have you actually driven a car with the EVOtech chip or do you know someone that has???

Are these numbers for the Evotech or another chip?????

Thanks Randy!

greatgro,

I have driven a car with just the software, with the software and the intake, and the software, intake, and Quicksilver.

E-mail me about the numbers. I haven't had this car on a dyno.

There has been some testing in CA that the 18hp number came from.

I think Diamond racing was offering a chip (Superchip?) for about $300 or so. Don't know much about it other than it seems much cheaper than most of the others.

The EVOtech software seems to get most of its HP increase by increasing the red-line. Any danger in this? Loss of reliability?

Is there a place in the New York area where someone may take his Mini to receive the pully upgrade? I am totally sold on this modification, just looking for a vendor / installation.

Madness Intake + Magnaflow + Pully + Throttle Body + Rear Sway = The Way To Go

Perhaps a chip in the end to reconfig the contraints of stock system to react to mods.

Sorry if this has been answered, I'm a newbie. Does GIAC have a chip for the MCS yet, and who is an authorized installer?

Welcome Blackdogmini, I am pretty new here myself.

The short answer is ...The GIAC chip for the MCS will be done "soon" but as with all of Garrett's products the quality and performace are well worth the wait. We are an authorized GIAC chip installer for the MINI.

beshaw,

We would be happy to do a pulley upgrade on your car. Give us a call @ our shop if you have any questions. What mods do you already have done on your MCS? If you have not done anything yet I might suggest a baseline dyno pull so that you can judge just how each of the products perform.

Anyone know of someone who can do the pulley upgrade down here in South Florida? I know of a couple of people that had it done but they spent lots of $$$ for the install. Wonder what the average cost is. Any quotes to be gotten out there??

Hey NoBull,

I'm trying to convince my dad to become a MINI shop. He has been a BMW only shop for the last 20 years here in Miami. I've mentioned it to him and he's thinking about it. I'll try to put the pressure on him....I'll keep you in touch...

The weed puller should work fine

I would go ahead and talk to Chris at Helix for the install. We would be glad to ship any parts to him directly, and he's actually one of the stops being considered on the MINI-Motorsport Motor the Country tour.

As far as the cost of all the mods - the pulley is $200, the throttle body is still being decided on, the intake is $239, the exhaust is $599-900 (depending on which one you want), the header is $1300 (but I'm still experimenting with other units), and the software is still being worked out as well.

The website has the pricing for everything just about.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Randy

Deal...Can I help you with him thinking really hard?? I know for sure that he will only get more jobs because of the "lack of mechanics/techs" in this area. Heck some of the guys working in the service centers are limited. Are you going to Spring Thing?? If so we can talk more then or if you go to the Tower Shoppes on Friday nights let me know.

I found the folowing info on http://www.superchips.co.uk. It's only 7hp though, but not that expensive. The dyno graphs are also posted on the site.

Results of my car search for -
Make : Mini
Model : cooper s
Engine : Non-turbo.

Our search has returned this application..

The following list of Superchips available is delivered in alphabetical order.

To view any of the Power Curves (pdf) available on this list you will need to have Acrobat Reader installed. Power Curves are graphs highlighting expected Power & Torque increases over the Rpm range.

Mini Cooper S +7 bhp £293.75

UK prices inc. fitting & VAT. Regional variations may apply.

Not too sure about Spring Thing. I was planning on going but a couple of nights ago I fractured my ankle and now I have a cast on and probably will for a couple of weeks. As for Tower Shops I may try to get up there some time soon, maybe end of March, I'll let you know.
