Alta Oil CC & Diverter installed today.

Started at about 2pm today, 45 degree weather. The goal, install the Oil Catch Can and Intercooler Air Diverter before sundown.

Starting off was normal like any project. Get everything together, read the instructions, grab a snack, get into it, realize you need more stuff, hunt for more stuff, work more, snack more, run into a problem, spend too much time solving it, call the auto parts store to make sure they have that part you need, go and get it, come back, and try to finish while holding a mag-light between your shoulder & ear, while telling the wife what you want on your Domino's pizza.

Because of a little snafu where I dropped a screw into the supercharger belt area, I wasn't able to finish by sundown. Had to go to an autoparts store and get one of the telescoping screw retreiving do-hickies. Morons live at auto-stores on Sunday evenings apparently, because it took me 10 mins to drive there, 10 mins to drive back, and 40 minutes at the store to buy the magnet rod, mechanic gloves (man my hands too some nasty nicks), and a plug gapping tool. And there were 5 employees working the store. Arg.

All turned out well though. Got everything finished shortly after sun-down, and was able to enjoy my pizza hot.

Install pics...

Looking Good! Congrats on doing the OCC install yourself
I wonder if your can will fit up as quickly as mine did.

BTW Will, TATE doesn't like the OCC. They gave me some issues with it on my car. Although my can collected alot so it must of worked well. Either that or my head gasket was bad for a while haha

Don't ya hate it when you drop a bolt and it doesn't go through and end up on the floor. Nicking up hands - try installing a boost guage and hooking up the T to the vaccum line. Talk about loosing some skin . All part of the pleasure and all forgotton once sitting back with the satisfaction that you did it.

Diverter looks good.

i think its about an inch or two... it does touch the underside of the bonnet.. thats why you have to remove the original air diverter on the bonnet

It's rough. I wouldn't recommend it to a DIY'er unless you have 3+ hours. It shouldn't take that long, but it's not as straightforward as it looks, or as the instructions make it seem. And after you think you've got it, you have to step back and re-read the instructions again and again and again until, OHHHHHH, thats what they mean. :impatient

OCC is pretty simple overall. The concept of how everything needs to be placed & connected up is the hard part.

I hope slowride answered that, because I don't get the question. How high from the face??? The rubber gasket touches the bonnet, and the gap between the end of the diverter & the scoop is about 1/2"-3/4" if I remember correctly.

Looks great I have the exact same task ahead of me. Did you notice any difference in sound at all?

Nope... And if everything goes right, you shouldn't.

Looks good, mang; nice job. I did my OCC a few weeks ago, and will agree on the instructions. They could be written a tad better. I lost an 8mm socket in the fan shroud area while doing mine--hand just glanced over the release button on the ratchet... grr--but I had the magnetic arm from a previous mishap, so it wasn't too bad.

Got my short-shift in yesterday, but am not sure I want to DIY that one.

Probably just have Towson install it when the Quaife, Clutch, & M7 f/w go in next month.

I agree on the short-shifter. I had my dealer install mine too. Pulling the gear shift box out as per some online instructions seemed a bit daunting to me. I've not clue how the shifter actually interacts with the tranny, and didn't want to find out on my own ride. BTW, why all the tranny work?
Looking forward to the pics Mogs.
