Promini claims?

ok so i got the promini CAI.. installed and all.. (cut and bled from the bracket) but i'm wondering what you guys think of their claim that it dyno'd to be something like a 12 hp increase and 1.5 psi increase in the supercharger. I think thats a bit generous.. maybe a little too generous.. the butt dyno says its a good product but hard number wise i'm going to be a doubter.

Agree

I don't have a butt dyno, it was removed by Randy Webb after asking about how they compared to the butt head (he was pretty harsh on the dyno!) But(t), from what I've experienced and learned here and up in Littleton, the biggest HP gain comes from the pulley (by far dollar-wise) then an exhaust (cat-back mostly) then maybe a CAI. Other mods seem to make HP in combination with other things (my ECU upgrade seems to make little real HP, but MTH claims a whole lot from their software.) I dyno'd my 05 at 179wHP and was pretty happy--it has all the mods listed above. Maybe a crank pulley and throttle body, bigger injectors, header, bigger/better IC might all add up to more HP, but I'm a supporter of the "200WHP is incredibly hard/expensive to attain" idea.

YMMV, of course.
cheers,

That would be 210 bhp (measured at, or corrected to, crankshaft). Generally assumed to be about a 12% correction for gear box losses.

HEY! Good to see another SB/S. Mine was delivered 11-5-05.

yea i wished i had one of those portable dyno's and test out all these products' claims.. i'm definitely going to get a pulley reduction. the one thing i do like is the extra supercharger whine that is pretty apparent.
