My MCSa back from the Dyno

Well it was fun and the car is super loud sitting strapped to the Dyno.
A group of guys from EastCoastEuro setup a Dyno Day @ FCCT of $70 for 3 pulls. I couldn’t resist a chance to take my car and run her.
Long story short…the MCSa is a pain to Dyno. The car wants to downshift when you hit the kickdown point and its hard to push it to the redline. All of this even with the car in Manual mode. So they shifted manually to 4th and then slowly rolled onto the throttle. This seems to do the trick. But as you see on the first run the hp was great but the lb went wild because the car shifted.
Video coming soon! A few guys that were there shot a nice video of my car on the Dyno. My car is so damn loud!
So if I read the charts right by best is 170whp and 154lb right?
Here are the hp and lb:

The Air/Fuel Ratios:

Brave man!

I took (manual transmission) GBMINI#2 to the dyno twice - I agree about the noise (there are audio & video links on this GBMINI dyno post)

Having seen a dyno in action, I would never consider taking (auto transmission) GBMINI#3 there - it would just be too difficult to get useful results with all the "help" from the transmission

Your temps look about 8 degrees higher than mine. I wonder why that is...

And I asked for AF ratios, and I remember them hooking that up, but I never got the printout. :/ Wonder if they'd mail it to me.

They were weird and I think it they knew what they were doing many of the cars would of done better.

The dark silver one? His only did like 174whp (with CAI, exhaust and 16% pulley)...so either thats right and your car is strong out of the factory of the dyno is wack.

Cheers for trying, but I think that without some software to increase the shift points/override the damn upshift at 6250+ it will be nothing but frustration to try to dyno and get any kind of range of useful data.

I can't understand why they made the Mini upshift when the E46 step did not do that even before the Dinan software

Mark,

I was with you when we went to lunch when Randy did our crank pullies.

Not sure you caught the thread... but I just dyno'ed my car down here in VA the other day.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=55730

Our cars are only slightly different... I have the 2% crank pulley, alta CAI, and Alta 15% pulley, but no exhaust or software.

I posted posted 185.2 hp / 162.5 tq.

That automatic is definitely not dyno friendly... look how flat my torque curve is compared to yours. I'd ask those guys if they'd send you a copy of your best run (166 hp/154 lb. ft.) on it's own, so you can see the graph a little more clearly from the others so you have a record of it.

I'm not sure if they knew what they were doing..
one of the curves I have on my print out is from will's batmini..(maybe they forgot to change the name)
anyways, it was definitly interesting to see his stock car do 170+whp with just an alta intake.
my torque curve looks so flat and my A/F ratio is almost constant between 11 and 12.. and no I don't have any ECU mods. (i'll need to get GIAC very soon :P )
well I'm still happy with my car..

My car shifts @ just about 7k RPM is you are on the pedal. It started to do this after the install of the crank pulley. Amazing little peice which increased my redline and at first freaked me out...

I'm not satisfied with those runs and will probaly dyno the car again next weekend somewhere else. But I hear of friends going to a Mustang dyno and that kind will show much lower numbers.

I don't know why they posted on the graphs in mph instead of rpm so we can better tune the engines

All I got after my first 2 runs was the manager telling me small specks of black crud were coming out of my exhaust and that I probaly need a new high-flow CAT.

There is also several small changes I could do to the car to help it dyno better. Such as but on lighter wheels and better tires. But thats another story...

"A man with two watches never knows what time it is"

If you got better results, you cant trust those either so you would need a third set of figures and throw out the highs and lows.

Bottom line, it really doesnt matter

If you post it, I could tell you if it was one of my runs or not.

Sure didn't. 1, 2, and 3.

I posted it on my own thread, as to stop thread-stealing.
