Drivetrain considering twin charge
While I do have a twincharged MINI, I am currently awaiting the custom CNC'd motor mount made from the stock one. When that IS fixed, time to install the wideband and get on the tuning route. I also need to take the Drag radials off and put my street tires back on. Over the winter, while it is being stored, I have an engine management project coming up and when it's not completely snow covered ground here in michigan, I will be driving her. For more info about my engine rebuild, this link has everything you need to know

T/Cing is one of those things.....There's a lot of things you will have to consider when T/Cing beyong just the price of the kit and the installation/tuning charges.
There's things that fall into, "well since I'm spending that much money and getting that much more HP, why no do X as a preventative measure while I'm at it". X can be expensive things like better clutch, diff, brakes, gauges, exhaust, etc. You can nickel and dime yourself in a heart beat. If you have a newer car with low mileage, then you might be safe on some of those items, while others of those items you might deem a necessity.

We got a lot more info from them, but this isn't the place. If you're curious, I'm sure you'll find your answers soon. I can't say where/how right now.

OK, now that this thread is in Drivetrain mods, I have a practical question [please, only those with twin charge experience directly or at least first-hand respond]:
Realistically, if I were to invest in a twin charge, could I run it on the track? Like MSFTOY and SpiderX, TC is becoming a point of interest for me as I look into the future [I'll admit it, I never thought it would
]. Does anyone out there with a twin charge race on a real track? I do not include the drags- it's relatively easy on the engine to run full hilt for 13 seconds and much harder on the tranny and mounts. I am specificially worried about my _engine's_ ability to deal with twin charging. Does/has Randy run his on the track? I know he now is getting into selling them, but that he does _not_ warrant them.
If a car can run on the track for a season, I'd say it's damn well reliable. Eaton supercharged, mine and all of my friends' cars track flawlessly, but of course we don't have quite the power we'd like [even at 200-220 whp, even 250 whp in one case, the urge remains]. What is and has been needed to keep a twin charged car going for track duty?
I believe that MSFTOY and SpiderX would agree- progress is a big factor in any potential outlay. For me, progress requires maintaining what I love about my car.
Thanks, in advance, for your time.

We all have the same bug...The World's Not Enough!!!
But for now, I'm having a hard time with stuffing "more" parts into an already cramped engine bay then flogging it around on a track. I'd wonder if that would be an invitation to more time spent in that extra cramped engine bay as Maximusmini might attest. I'm sure he laughed his *** off while it was running...no doubt. I'd love to hear from people who have tracked a TC regularly however. Me? I'd like to see someone completely remove that heavy Eaton and either straight turbo it or something less complex. Less plumbing please

. My supercharger weighed a bit over 20 pounds, if I remember correctly.Anyways, weight is great, but so is power
. Is the twincharge proving trackable? Anyone? The options are steadily increasing, so inquiring minds would like to know!
Can anyone help some bruthas out here?
. Know anyone who has successfully tracked a twincharge? It doesn't need to be stock. I just would like to know what I'll need to do to make it work. Thanks!

Anyone else got a twin charge that does track time? Does anyone know if Randy runs his kits at the track yet?

I don't know 100% of the details, but one of the other New England track fanatics got his Coooper S twincharged last winter, and hasn't been able to take it to the track since. Something goes wrong with the spark plugs and the car goes into limp mode.

I'm telling you now, if you can't have your MINI down for a year, then don't get the twincharged. It is not for the faint of heart. I can attest, the MINI is trackable with the twincharged, be sure to change your Motor mounts, and don't be surprised if you blow the ringlands off of one or if all your pistons. As for the woman who is tracking her TC MINI on the east coast, I heard she blew her motor and crashed. Please don't say it's true.
