Drivetrain Minipowerprog kit?
Good question. I would also like to see a DYNO - I mean how much appreciable HP can you expect to get from this. I've got a CAI, Miltek exhaust and 15% pulley redux. I think I am near 190 already - can I get to 200 with the MiniPowerprog or am I thinking too linear...
Green Iguana - thanks for the pix - espically one in particular

if you would go to their website - http://www.minipowerprog.com/en/home.html
they claim 195hp w/ pulley from 168 hp.

Qualitative comparison to MTH Tuner file
Hello,
Just loaded up my MTH Tuner file. Although my driving impressions are only qualitative I must say...
I like that neither software makes think I am hurting my MINI when I hit the acceleration hard compared to the Stock program. Both feel pretty good.
MTH doesn't blow me away though compared to Powerprog. MTH does feel different- say more open and a bit more powerful. I'll have to give it a few weeks and then switch back and see.
Again, I am driving a Stock Cooper S with 91 Octane.
I sure hope someone with access to a Dyno or computer data logging could measure the difference to see if my impressions are real or not. I know I could certainly be suffering from 'I think it should be better since I paid more for it' syndrome.
I wasn't aware of any ECU flash limits. I've played around with Powerprog enough that I could be nearing that limit of 14. Has anyone asked the tech help from Powerprog??
Yes, when you import the software from Italy you will need to pay some customs duty.
My next idea is to load up a different software, not tell my wife which one it is, and see what she thinks. That's the best I can do till either I find a track to make some time comparisons or get it on a Dyno.

i used this on my 04 cooper and it worked well. i could notice a big difference in my cooper. it was a lot more lively getting to a revs.
very easy to install and it comes with the obd tool and everything for $300 bucks. can't beat that. MTH is 400 and then you still have to get a tool to upload it. very easy and cost effective. easy to upgrade when you get new mods.

Firewalls...Just turn it off from setup for nthe D/L

Firewalls are out of my area of understanding, sorry.
I did take my work laptop home, and simply plugged the ethernet cable from my DSL into my laptop. Then all was fine. I did need to disable the anti-virus software though.

If it is a router firewall...go into the setup and add the URL/FTP site to trusted (or depending on brand...a similar option.)
If you cannot, there is always an option to turn off the firewall for that d/l.
(you want that feature.....so no one can sneak a file in!)

Love hearing about any ECU Flash comparison. I've been on the fence for a year on which one to buy. A ECU Re-flash shoot out is what we all need but doubtful we will ever see. I can only dream.
While I understand it is just your SOP impressions, please do post more about your experiences. I for one would live to hear more.

Just my opinion :
I love MTH because Franz is really a great tuner... He's been working for Hartge and knows how a MINI works...
I'll stick with MTH! I've been using it for a long time now, and tried every single version of it. MTH Tuner version 7 is really great.

While it looks like a decent set up,
I've heard from some (all second hand news, I haven't used it myself) that they only have a limited number of maps available and don't (yet?) support more extreme states of mods. Kind of like GIAC was (or is?)....

do tell
well i made the jump and got the minipowerprog. I put installed the file the other day, but due to getting sick, i really havnt had a chance to drive it much. The little i did drive, i was impressed with the power gain. Prior to the software install i had a slight ping and the software did not solve that problem. I have emailed minipowerprog to see if they can help me with a different map. They havnt responded yet but ill let you know the outcome.
Drive to distributor, pay 325.00, 20 minutes later "instant gratification" AND 30 day return policy.
OOOPPPS - should have read`the whole thread first. - never mind - lol
I too am interested in this as I live in Italy and I would like a local tuner. I plan on mods past what they have listed and I am emailing them about possible upgrades. I have a tuner around the block but I doubt he works in Minis. It would be nice if I could send dyno files to one of these ecu tuners and keep getting it fine tuned. I will post what I find out...

Well I got a response back. They can not offer custom tuning, dyno or otherwise. I think it is a great mod for the money if you are only going to use a pulley, CIA and exhaust. The did give me another link that has some interesting stuff though... www.digitalmotor.it
I have decided to go with MTH since they offer custom tuning from a dyno run that I can send back and forth and they can tune for other mods such as head, cam, injectors...bla bla bla. This will be much easier for me as I am stationed overseas. I think the whole key is to find what ecu mod work best for you. There are a lot of tuners here on NAM that offer great service and I would be willing to try but it is too far for me to drive
Ciao for now and good luck!
