bought one but can't get to load??

I bought a kit but cannot get the access to get to the ftp site they have - web support has been there but slow and not real helpful as of yet.

Will keep posted.

Looks cool if works.

This looks like MTH ECU...

Maybe it's good, maybe not. But MTH has proven to be a great ECU upgrade, with many member's feedbacks.

Try it and tell us how you like it. The price seems good, and it includes the OBD2 cable.

Let us know how it goes!

Yeah, it kinda does, but I think it's just heavily photoshop'd. The hoodline is way way too low and slanted (even more so than the current MCS and MC). The R56 is suppose to have a raised hood for those pedestrian crash test standards.

Am I the only one that HATES these flash/animated heavy sites? I can't tell you how many I simply close because they're such a pain to get around in. Good thing these guys have an interesting product or I never would have made it past the annoying intro.

I am looking at this now, but this could be our option to finally be able to tune our minis the way we want it and not rely on other people to tune it. I have many friends who own and race there camaros and they rely heavly on HPTuners software to tune anything they want on there cars. That is how my one friend with a v6 camaro runs 13's with a stock motor, weight reduction and suspension work. Now that is instense.

Just looked at it further and it would have been nice to be able to tune the stuff yourself and not rely on other people to program your computer. When will people learn that if they charge more for the tuning software they can make more money yet allow people to tune there own stuff.

In the F.A.Q. section it says that if you add something later on you can tell them and they will send you an upgrade file for free.

I think the H.P. numbers are 1. EU numbers (newtonmeters) 2. EU numbers + pulley (15% id assume??) 3. US/Can numbers 4. US/Can numbers + pulley 5.?? 6.??
(170 hp...new model?)

The site isn't very specific about how you ask for or receive your upgrade programs (I went all the way to the payment section of checkout). Sent them an e-mail asking for more info...

Reading the users manual atm.

MPP Got it going........................yeehaaaaaaaaaaa

I finally got into the ftp site access.. There is an issue with running a wireless router to a laptop with the IP getting masked.
Process:
  • I plugged in the laptop direct to modem, initiated the program and unplugged.
  • Plugged (with kit) cable into computer (usb) to the ECU port under drivers side.
  • It read the existing settings in about 5-7 minutes.
  • I unplugged and sent to Italy via plugging back into modem.
  • The program was uploaded to me by the early AM ready for install.
  • Plugged it back into car and uploaded - 5 minutes - follow instructions and took off for a test ride.
Today in Orlando it was 32 degrees in the AM so the car was a rocket with the cool air anyway but there was a real boost at mid rpm and high rpm and some increased front end torque.
My seat of pants test Dyno would say I am up to the 187hp+ range with my mods from the base 163hp..

15% pulley, K&N filter mod, screaming demon coil, jackson racing wires.

The kit is REAL easy (once you get the link going, may be the security on my router)

They did respond to my emails but pretty much told me to do steps from manual (name a blank test file??)/turn off firewall.

It sells for $330.00 with current exchange rate, I see Kass motorsport has them also. It shipped in about 4 days.

Right now the mods list is limited but (exhaust (front and rear), filter, pulley). They may add more in future as the kit has no time limit with it.

I bought because it was not limited in time as the MTH and wanted to try something new.

I will be at dragon and will bring the kit for viewing, it comes with cable and cd - you print out the instructions.

Any chance you are going to put it on a dyno and get some A/F numbers?

I don't mean to steal this thread away but I'm pretty sure it's either photoshoped or some funky body kit they put together. Headlights are a dead giveaway, pre '05 style. Also, isnt the '07 update supposed to tuck the wipers down under the cowl? The one they show has them sticking up like they do now.

I was wondering if you can use the kit on a Mac. or do you have to use a PC. I don't believe that I saw anything about using a Mac.

no Dyno

Sorry, no Dyno test.
I did take it for a spin this am on the tollway - it was 60 out and the car rips in second and third.
My gas milage was around 17 for the quick 10 minute rip, seem to be up closer to red in the rpm with it tuned this way.

The web site offers questions/answers and also contact info about software compatability - I run a pc.

I'm in Florida as well and right now w/ this weather its tough to guage performance. If I understood correctly - they can factor in pulley, cai, header and exhaust.

something to consider - thanks for sharing.

Mini PowerProg

Hello,

Bought the MINI PowerProg and installed it on my stock '06 S.
- Yes, it is VERY easy to do.
- It is also easy, with the laptop, to switch back and forth between original ECU and their program.
- I'm pretty sure that you can only use the program on one MINI, so no way have just one person with the laptop/cable support their friends.

I don't know how to get my MINI dyno'd, but here are my (of course) subjective comments:
- In stock mode, I always felt the MINI S could stall in 1st if I was being gentle. The PowerProg seems to have corrected this.
- I believe I can notice a difference in the smoothness of the acceleration. Whereas in stock, I sometimes felt I was hurting my MINI.
- Overall, I think its improved my MINI's power, but I wonder what the MTH tuner file would do to my stock S. Perhaps the MINI PowerProg's performance could be comparable to the MTH standard file... When I start meeting other MINI owners in my area, I'll see if some of them have MTH, and we can compare rides.

By the way, I emailed MINI PowerProg to ask them to compare against MTH's tuner file statement of 197bhp+ vs. their performance. They responded that 'It is not possible to obtain 197+ with chip tuning alone'. PowerProg claims to be 178hp...

I had firewall issues with them, did you have any?
If not, any idea what setting may be doing it?

When I downloaded the stock file with the program, and then tried to send it on to the PowerProg server AT WORK, I didn't get through. I'd guess because of firewall issues... I didn't ask about it at work though, as I should be working : - )

Firewalls are out of my area of understanding, sorry.

I did take my work laptop home, and simply plugged the ethernet cable from my DSL into my laptop. Then all was fine. I did need to disable the anti-virus software though.

Still happy, took slvr bllt in for service and put back the old ecu program and had no comments from service department.

Got home and put back the remapped program - easy to do it saves your rempped and original on your computer so it does this with no uploading to Italy.

I got hit with a fed ex bill for $10.54 for import fees or something I thought I had paid it in shipping - but that was only issue.
Kassmotosports sells the itme now I see.

This looks to be MTH like..

but with customer support! But it's still a send-wait-recieve file product, and no real user tuning. At least it seems to work well with operating systems later than Win 98!

Looking forward to more news!

Be cautious in re-installing the ECU maps and reverting to stock repeatedly.

Another thread mentioned that there is a limit of 14 times on re-loading the maps - apparently the flash memory becomes less reliable after repeated reloading.

There is a software counter in the stock ECU code to prevent this, which MTH gets around. Does this new offering have an issue with the re-loading limit?

Flash memory is much more reliable than that.

It typically has hundreds of thousands of read write cycles. I have no clue where the BMW/Mini limit is, other than only using 4 bits to count! I don't think any but the factory tools actually move the counter, but I could be wrong....
