Drivetrain ITG filters
The instructions that came with my filter name "Silkolene" as the type of solvent and oil to use with the filter:
http://www.mxdeals.com/kit-service-f...silkolene.html
But I also found what you were referring to (marksmith):
http://www.bimmerspecialist.com/products/usa/JDR1.html
Then there's the Uni-filter service kit that the alta foam filters use.
I'm confuzzled!

Saving $$$...
In the interest of saving money & hassel, many ITG users opt to clean the foam filters in a sink of warm soapy water as opposed to using solvents.
-TO CLEAN (I do it every 6000K miles): Submerge the filter in a kitchen or workshop sink of warm soapy water (NOT HOT water & use dish washing det.) Gently turn/rotate/agitate it in the bath to loosen dirt (you will see it move away from the filter.) Discard the water, refill, & repeat a few times.
NEVER SQUEEZE THE FILTER hard.
-Next step: hold the filter under a gentle stream of warm water, streaming it inside the filter to de-clog the inner mesh. Repeat 2-3 times
-If the filter still looks dirty use a small 2" natural bristle paint brush and softly work the outer surfaces as the filter is submerged (I have never had to do this step myself.)
-DRY: Lay the filter open side facing down on a sink drain board or something that allows the water to flow out from beneth. Do NOT us a compressor, hair dryer OR squeeze the filter as IT WILL DELAMINATE. Air drying will take several hours OR overnight.
Re-oil: ITG oil is what I use and it is water-soluabe (many filter oils are not, so be advised.) Spray on a light coat and work in in w/ your hand gently. Over oiling will clog the foam.
Enjoy!

ITG oil....
Myminiparts does not give a can of ITG aersol oil or a cleaning kit when they ship the filters (neither does ITG if you buy one direct from them.) ALL ITG's come preoiled from the factory. I personally don't know who gives a free stuff w/ the filter? Let me know!!! (Jim Comforti does not & he sells a bunch of em').)
Cheers.

"Founded in 1996 by Josh MacMurray, Eurosport High Performance has been instrumental in the development and distribution of high quality aftermarket products for BMW automobiles. Working side by side with premier high performance software engineer Jim Conforti of Bonneville Motor Werks, Eurosport has helped to produce some of the most cost effective upgrades for BMW automobiles."
Seems strange that Jim doesn't send it when, or/if, he sells his intakes directly because I thought EHP was his main outlet??? Maybe I just got lucky ... it was a few years ago.
BTW, I just noticed EHP sells the ITG cleaner and oil for $15.95.
not life changing but...
Thanks for asking: 2 months w/ the ITG filter my car is running very well. There still seems to be just a bit of improvement in throttle response at WOT & high rpm's w/ the ITG. I don't know if the ITG is more or less restrictive than the OE Works filter element? Whatever the difference the smoother throttle response seems to be an ITG attribute.
