Short Shift Kit

Hi all. I'd like to ask what my options are for a SS kit for my '02 MCS. I'm leaning towards the B&M or Alta...the ability to use a Whalen **** is a must. In reading another thread, it seems like onasled is able to make an extension for the Alta to give it a very short throw but at a nice height. Is this a feasible option for the street? Onasled, would I be able to use the Whalen with this adapter? Also, do the aluminum bushings on the B&M make a noticeable difference?

Any other comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Helix SS and love it. It maintains the shifter height, but make the shifts shorter and more crisp. It's less expensive than most. The only down side is that the heat shield need to be removed so the leather shifter boot tend to get pretty warm.

I just installed the BMP/ProMINI SS. I think I like it. It will take the factory shift ****, so a Whalen should work fine. It also fits happily inside the shifter box, so you can use the factory dust cover and heat shields and not add any heat to the car.

Anybody know about the PILO racing SS? I mean for the money that thing looks like it is a replica of the B&M. But who cares it is cheap for a SS. ANy info regarding this one would be helpful too.

Agro, how does the height compare to stock on the Promini setup? I'm pretty tall so a low shift **** would not be a good for me. That's why I was interested in onasled's setup.

BM makes some great products. I would deff. look into one of there products. Cheap does not always mean its a great deal. There are a lot of posts on SSK. Look on the forums and see what others have suggested and or had success/problems with.

Get the Alta short shifter. It is height adjustable and Whalen makes a **** to fit it.

I like the Alta but to get a good reduction, don't you have to lower the height?

I just had the Alta installed and I love it. I wish I would have done it earlier.
I have it set as low as it can go with the heat shield. I didn't think it would make much of a difference but it really does.

Alta adjustable for sure. To reduce the throw you lower the height of the ****. I think it looks better that way.

The Alta is my choice as like others here, I like the adjustability. I also drop it to the heat shield but use my extension to bring the **** to a better location. This of course lengthens the throw but it works out great. Check my video on my sig and you can see it in action.

The Whalen **** can be made to fit this lever easily.

Wow onasled, that was another amazing video...s2000's give no respect . Your Alta SS with extension really looks sweet. What (if anything) has to be done to the extension for it work with the stock/Whalen ****?

(edit) also, how does the throw compare to stock? To me, the video makes it appear that the throw is just a little shorter than stock. Is this correct or is it just the angle of the camera?

Another great vid Onasled! Was the SS extension custom made, or off-the-shelf?

It's a little lower, but not a lot. Certainly less than in inch. I'm now pretty much used to it and it's been about 5 days.

ALTA supply the SSK with either their own ****, or a screw on adapter that makes all stock ***** (including Whalens) fit perfectly. I'm using an Alta with a Whalen on my car.
