JCW intake mod idea

Just wondering if anyone is working on a mod for the JCW intake to make the flap open sooner? Not sure if it would be a software mod or a hardware mod, like a resistor. I would think that a MCS with lots of mods, like headers and 17% or 19% pulleys and free flowing exhaust would benifit from this. Not sure if my allowed STX mods would need it but I'd still like to see someone develope the idea. I'd personally like to see it open up at 4k, just high enough that I would not be working the hell out of it all the time, as I usually shift just below 4k on the street but there when I need it for autocrossing.

Still hoping to see high flow replace air filters soon.

Sounds like a great idea to me. I think the controller is in the airbox and it just gets an engine speed signal from the ECU. If there was some kind of an adjustable "step-up chip" to put in line between the ECU and the airbox, we could tune to our personal needs.

With all the elctronics genius types on this board someone should at least be able to discuss the feasablity of our ideas.

Help! Inquiring minds want to know!

I don't know if this sounds too challenging to pursue... Or if it's just not interesting to a wide enough audience... Or maybe 4500 is the right threshold...

I just suspect that the engineers were directed to keep the intake quiet unless the driver really means it, so to speak. I understand that there is supposed to be some torque benefit to keeping the flap closed when the revs are low, the question is whether 4500 rpm is optimal for performance.

Only way to find that out is to try and see if you feel anything different or throw it on the dyno.

THose that want the flap opening that early, or all the time - usually don't get the JCW in the first place, they get an Alta or other setup that is designed that way to begin with. 4500 is a great point to separate mild from wild driving, and keep it nice and quiet when we want it.
