How can I get the length of shifter that an '05 MC has?

I was down at D&R MINI today and was throwing around a '05 MC. It of course had a 5 speed but the gear lever/**** combo felt alot shorter in lenght than my '05 MCS stock and shorter than my '05 MCS now with a Whalen.

I want my gear lever/**** combo to be that short.
What is a solution?
I have already searched and found threads where people have cut part of their's off. I want to AVOID this if at all possible. I am not getting rid of my Whalen so I want a stock fittament. So really the only thing I can see happening is cutting down the shift lever at the bottom, or just installing an MC shift lever?

Any Help?

Mikey

two choices...cut your rod, or install an Alta short shift.

leave ur rod alone

i agree w/ripley..... on Alta s/s its an adjustable height or lengh on d' shift rod it self, leave ur rod alone u will need an adapter 4 d' Whalen **** which comes w/Alta s/s purchase (i believe so not sure check w/Alta on this)
