Drivetrain what you think about ALTA products?
what you think about ALTA products?
I want to put only the best of the best in my mini. Im a newbie here so!...What do you think about ALTA products?....Or any other that you know!...The Alta exhaust looks very nice and good gain in HP. The same with the Intake and SC pulley. What do you think. I don't like to combine brands and ALTA seems to be the best for our mini's. Do you think so?....
I have the 15% pulley and the CAI. It makes the car so much better; gives you more confidence to challenge other cars...people always try to race Mini's for some reason.

I love my Short Throw Shifter from Alta. I also have their pulley and intake. I think their products are top quality. I bought everything from Randy Webb at Webb Motorsports. Great Service and he price matches.
I have the Alta pulley, short shift, cold air intake, oil catch can and IC air diverter. All are nice products. I did however choose another brand of exhaust. I wasn't impressed with the Alta. Don't get too hung up on one vendor or brand. Different people do different things and some are better than others. Hence mixing and matching is not a bad thing.

I have the Alta Intake and 17% pulley and all i can say is AWESOME. I get lots of power with those two Alta parts alone. Like others have mentioned here, since my next mod is an exaust system, I am leaning towards either a Borla Race, Supersprint, or a Skunk2 enhaust which has a very impressive design and HP gain.
Make sure your dealer is ok with it (if you are concerned).
Mine is really square...dont want to see any mods what so ever or they will charge for everything.
Anyways, since I am moving back east I just did my homework and found a dealer that will service my warranty.
PS: I don't plan to install a pulley, but so far (and ready to install next week) I have oil catch can, CAI, control arms, lowering springs, short antena **looks so much better!**ALL THESE PARTS ARE ALTA plus BBS wheels, and Borla Street exhaust)
Seriously, don't plan to be street racing or anything like that...just thought the car needed some help to be top notch

I have the CAI with hose, large IC with diverter, short shift kit, and I think the parts a great. I have been a manufacturers rep for 25 years and different mfgs put emphasis on different areas. Core competency is the "buzz" word. The benefit for us is that we can choose from a variety of mfgs who, while they may offer a part in a segment, it is not what they do best. I don't know anythng about the Alta exhaust, it may be the best, but companies like Borla and Miltec come to mind when I think of cat-backs. There is a lot of experience on this site. If you ask or search you will find a ton of info. When I was doing my car, not that it is done, half the fun was the research and picking and choosing the brands and parts.
Good Luck,

I have their CAI, swaybar and this Saturday their 15% pulley. Their swaybar is fun..you can install it upside down
. I know this because I installed it upsidedown.
Also I think the bushing grease that came with it wasn't 100% good. My bar started to make noise right off the bat. But that might of been a combination of an upsidedown bar and lack of grease.

About the CAI installation: Is this something that can be done with a moderate toolbox? I ask because I am stationed in a remote area of Italy and would be having one of my car-mechanic buddies doing this (I am mechanically retarded). I can hold off on some other mods (Exhaust, SC Pulley, etc) until I can get back to the States and some English Speaking Mechanics but would like to do what I can do without heavy garage support.
