Drivetrain Dyno Results from last night
Some of the idea of "running in 4th"
goes back to earlier transmissions. Running with a 1:1 drive in most transmissions means that you don't put power through countershafts etc and minimize frictional losses. If the dyno is "told" drive ratio to get speed vs RPM (or just measures it) no big deal. The effect will be that if your dyno run goes faster (shorter time) the effect of lightened rotational mass will be higher, IE you'll get higher HP numbers for things like lightened crank pullies, flywheels etc. Even in 1:1 the torque makes a back and forth path in our transmissions, so I don't know if it really runs with the lowest losses there.

You try both and let us know the difference.....
