My dyno Results

Having spent money on the car of course anyone wants to find out their power figure... i did my dyno just today... here's my dyno results...

mods: Alta intake, Alta 15%, Scorpion Exhaust, MTH, Screamin Demon Coilpack, Livewire Wires, Denso IK22, GRS TMIC

what suprised me is my torque... any explanation as to why my friends are getting around 160s zone while im doin 158?

here's the a/f graph of everyone that day as well

i believe im the only one that day running an aftermarket chip... fyi, ken did not do a a/f run, but had 190whp! phil (burgundy) and Ian (purple) ran JCW software, Martin has an 05 convertible

its making me want to get 190!!!

conditions was cnditions were about 74.55 farenheit during ian's run to about 76.26 for martin's run... humidity was in the 22 to 26% range, this is done in Scarborough Toronto, I'll have to find out how high it is above sea level

I think 183whp is awesome for your mods...especially with a 15%. What's the difference in mods between your car and the car that ran 190?

I don't know what to tell you about the torque. Maybe they are running bigger pulleys. Do you have a baseline?

baseline is what i dont have... i also think a very small leak in my exhaust maybe causing the torque loss... the two cars running jcw software are making similar torque

as for the car that ran 190, i have the intercooler, he has shrick cams and miltek header... but stock software... i guess his got better baseline...

What was different on the HERMAN_001 and HERMAN_002 runs, just heat soak?

heat soak... done back to back almost imediately... however, run 1 was done with hood closed, engine cool, run 2 was done with hood open, fans blowing, heat soak... minis heat soak like carzy.. even with the tmic i got it helped little

It's all speculative really. whp is the standard measuring stick ('round these parts). I'd like to know what 183whp translates to a 1/4 mile time, myself.

Just a note here on "Heat Soaking". I built this fan for a day at the dyno and it worked great. About 20 full pulls on the same car with about 100% consistency. Several cars were dynoed with this fan and their numbers were strong. So, if you are doing a tuning on a dyno, then a fan like this is really a must as it virtually eliminates any heat soaking what-so-ever.
The numbers with this fan? Well "I" feel that they are closer to real then without the fan. As anyone knows who has done a dyno with a Mini S, it's VERY difficult to get any realistic air flow to the IC with standard dyno fans.

nice fan system; i've literally been there...holding the fan with my arms, motor screaming, dyno rolls spinning 75mph, hold downs straining.

Helix: get out your jigsaw!

radar: good one about the 1/4 mile time yardstick.

The Schrick cam and Miltek header would account for the extra hp between the two cars, IMO.

I did a test with my JCW on the dyno, with a muffler delete pipe in place the hp climbed from 176 to 180 but the tourque dropped from 173 to 164 so if your exhaust is non restrictive it may be the problem. While im not happy with how quiet the JCW exhaust is I cant argue with how it keeps the tourque up.

Also if you have went to an aftermarket top mount your airspeed or velocity will also decrease along with boost pressure because of the larger volume.
I would start thinking along the lines of porting and polishing everything in the intake airstream all the way to the supercharger, larger T/B, and you will see a huge differance.
I saw a 210hp spec JCW with stock JCW head & cam, CAI, and ported and polished everything with the larger T/B, Pull 200 whp, 195 fp TQ! Im not sure which ecu software he was running but the car was a screamer!
