Knocking when cold

I have a Jan 05 build MCS with the JCW engine upgrade. When I start the car, morning temps in DC are in the 50s now, I hear mild knocking from the engine. After a few minutes this goes away. Is this anything to worry about or is it normal?

Thanks!

Oban

Are you sure it's not valve clatter instead of knocking? Those conditions seem to be more condusive to valvetrain noise than knock. Have you checked the oil level?

My 05 JCW clatters a little when it is cold. Four to Five miles into my drive it goes away. Could be valves, could be resonance, but at nearly 22k miles it still runs fine.
