Goodyear Gatorback Supercharger Belt

Sorry. This is a rehash of previous beaten Dead Horses. In my excitement I neglected to do a search first.

There are now 2 lengths for the MCS size of Goodyear Gatorback Poly-V Belt available. It looks like the stock size belt is a 6 rib 54.75" long belt. Is this the correct length?
There is also a 6 Rib 53.75" (1" shorter) belt for those with 15% ~ 19% pulleys. Can someone tell me if these sound like the right lengths?

Shameless Plug: One of the MINI aftermarket Vendors needs to start selling these! I have used different types of serpentine belts in the past on performance cars. They may cost a little more, but the best belt I have used yet was the Goodyear Gatorback. Quieter running, less slip, and better able to bend around tight radius smaller pulleys.

If anyone can tell me if these 2 sizes sound right, I would greatly appreciate it!

I'll agree with you. I've had success with the gatorback belts on a different supercharger project.

While the Gatorback belts are certainly not the quietest for the MINI's application (the 1365mm length on a 19% sounds like a toothed blower belt, lol), it certainly does hold up to high-stress environments. It's the only belt I've been satisfied with for 19% pulley applications to date.

I use one on my 17%

No problems to date with apparently very little stretch.
The 6 Rib 53.75" sounds right.
Here it is, I just went out and found it; 17/19% pulley Goodyear part# 4060537 / part# 6PK1365 ( = the description, 6 rib, 1365 millimeters ) .
Effective Length 53.75", outside Length 54.5".
For what it's worth, I will use the same belt when it's time to replace this one.

Does anyone know what belt Helix sells? Just had my pulley swapped to a 19% and wanted to know before tracking the car.

Someone should have the OEM belt size / after market to compare effective length that can be used for a 15%. From my notes;
Next size up (from the one I use on a 17%) part# 4060547 / part# 6PK1390, 6 rib effective Length 54.75", outside Length 55.5".

The G-backs rock. I have used them over a year now on my 19%. I replaced it after about 15k miles...not a single sign of wear. It actually looked brand new. That was a hard 15k as well.

I don't think we have a clear answer yet regarding what size Goodyear Gatorback Poly-V Belt should be used with a 15% pulley. Can anyone clarify this? Thanks!

I asked my SA whether or not JCW cars used a different belt to compensate for their 14.7% pulley, and the answer was yes. That's what I run now.I can get the part # for anyone who cares. Jock

Yes, I think the JCW belt could be a good idea, might make the dealer a bit happier too if it ever comes down to some kind of concern about using a 15% pulley. Got the part number? Thanks.

Helix uses the NAPA (Gates) belt 06 0535 which is 54 1/8" long. Some are using the NAPA 06 0539 which is 54 1/2". I've used the 0535 belt with my 19 pulley for 18 months with lots of track days, replaced after a year with some slight chaffing on side of belt.
Is the G back 53.75" what those with 19 pulley are using successfully?

I recently (Two weeks ago) purchased a sc belt to carry as a spare. Got it from Classic. When it came it stated on the invoice the belt part # Gates 6PK 1374 and jcw. I called Classic and they checked the part #. They said that is the # they show for all MCS including the jcw. By my measurement, belt was 54 3/4"

I tried the "JCW" belt and it squealed like a stuck pig, even when brand new, with a 15% pulley. I kept it as a "just-in-case" spare, but I wouldn't run it by choice. I didn't measure it, but from the behavior, it seemed to be LONGER than the stock belt.

Thanks for the info. Puzzling. So is the Gatorback 53.75" the one to use for the 15% pulley?

Yes, as stated by norm03s, for the 19% reduction pulley the Gatorback 4060537 is the right number. Auto Zone has them for less than $20.

When a belt breaks it's time to assess the health of the belt pulley system. If the crank pulley was the last change in the system that would be the first item to inspect and torque. Torque the idler and tensioner pullies to spec. Re-torque all of the tensioner mounting bolts including the tensioner arm. Degrease and inspect the pulley grooves.

Spider X when your belt broke did the stop on the tensioner spring limit the tensioner pulley travel?

For the 15%, I believe everyone is using the stock size, or part #4060547. And for the 17%, I would guess that the majority use this same belt. This stock size belt is also the one of choice for those who have a 15% SC pulley, and a 2% crank pulley...

Summit Racing got me mine 2 days from when I placed the order, and also included a pretty cool baseball cap .

Has anyone tried Gates v-belts? They were recommended to me, but not sure if others have tried them.
