Are you....

Scared to MOD? Its not like I don't have the money to do it, thats not the issue. I'm just overly nervous about putting mods on the car. I am about to order the 15% Pulley, Short Shifter, Miltek Exhaust and etc, etc...but I know whats going to happen...

Its going to sit underneathe my bed because im a big p***y to install it.

I'm just so worried about things happening with the warranty...anyone else in this situation??

I see guys on here that have tons of mods and no issues but I feel like with my luck....the car will probably blow up!

It's normal to feel like that before your first mod. Look at it this way, you say money isn't a problem. Well, then why would it matter in the extremely unlikely event that you have a stock part fail that isn't covered under warranty? Go for it!

eh, you'll be ok. If something happens and your hoping for warranty coverage, take it all back off. I couldn't imagine anything going wrong with your MINI by adding the mods that you listed though, unless you install something incorrectly.

I'll admit to being a little hesitant because I do the installs myself, but so far Springs, sway bar, exhaust, intake, custom work on intake, header, front/rear grills, front splitter, brake rotor/fluid/pad change, coolant flush and let's not forget about oil & filter...piece of cake.

You seem "risk averse" or a pessimist or both.

There is nothing wrong with the mods you've planned.
Just get a shop or mechanic that knows that they are doing to do the installs.
End of story.

If you do the installs yourself then do it right or be prepared to accept the outcome- good or bad.

How many miles do you have on your MCS? If over 5000 then you'll be fine. If over 10,000 then "what are you waiting for"?????

Hey Pat where do you live? Maybe a ride in a modded S would seal the deal for you? I'm in central Jersey and if you're local you're more then welcome to see what the fun is all about=)

I had a pulley done at Helix a few weeks back on my 05 S and have since complimented that with a remus exhaust and non runflat tires. I must say doing these simple things have really transformed my car. It made a nice fun little car into something that's a real hoot to drive

In closing just do it
Mike

Had my pulley done at 8500 miles, and now at 30K, I'm happy as ever (though I want to go from 15% to 19%+GIAC+injectors, please make it stop!). Did everything on my own - except the pulley, which I should have down on my own and wouldn't hesitate to do one solo now: springs, swaybar, control arms, air horns (fun fun fun), VGS, exhaust, HAI...all pretty simple.

If you're going to be perpetually concerned, then don't mod. There's no pressure - the car is fun to drive stock. Just more fun when modded!

Marty

PS check out my post number above!!! 666 is the "number of the beast," which refers to the numerology of the Hebrew language as it refers to Caesar Nero, not Satan as commonly held. The numbers associated with the letters KSR NRVN (English translation) add up to 666. Nero, the "beast", began a large-scale persecution of the Jews in 64 CE, culminating in the second Diaspora of 70 CE.

i totally agree

you wont regret it i was the same a little bit afraid of messing with 30,000 euro worth of car but once you start it is purely addictive and the most fun you can have with your clothes on
each time you add something or change something the joy of taking her out and driving your handy work is a great feeling
do it do it do it

Why don't you go with the JCW package. Sure its expensive but if money is no object you get a great car and keep your warranty intact. Best of both worlds so to speak.

I think he means the word that comes before willow, also means a cat. (hey, they say it on network tv why does Big Brother not allow it to be written here?)

My mod plan was always to keep the stock parts just in case. If I ever had a catastrophic failure I'd put them back on before taking the car to the dealer.

Also, please, please, PLEASE, let's not have the JCW vs other mods argument again.

I don't want an argument either but it is a viable option for Pat_Cooper. He says money is not a problem, he says he's worried about warranty issues. Well with JCW he can keep his warranty although for more money, and presumably have no more worries. Seems logical to me.

mini mania

Kind of off topic. But, has anyone ever tried to use the mini mania warranty. They say that if their part causes a problem and the factory warranty won't cover it, they'll pay. That really removes a lot of headaches, if it's true. Thanks
Tim

I'm with you, Pat. I was going to limit myself to an intake and the 15% pulley, as they seem to be very reliable. Then I bought a condo and now have an excuse not not mod my car, as pathetic as that sounds.

Hundreds of people here have modded with no problem, but make sure you are comfortable first. Is it worth it if you'll be worrying all of the time? Possibly...
