is a bov possible

so i was reading the latest issue of sport compact car, and they where hilighting an 04 mcs. they mcs had the spi twincharger kit. i was reading the article and they stated that there were two hks blow off valves. One for the turbo and the other for the supercharger. They stated that the second bov, the one for the supercharger bypass. would the addition of a blow off valve to a mcs without the spi/twincharger kit be possible.
i would greatly like your feedback. thank you
tim.

What would the point be? The bov is designed to let off the pressure in the turbo - if I'm not mistaken you don't get that problem with a supercharger

Of course I could be way off base here, so I'll let the pros give a 100% answer instead of my 10% one

EDIT: Sorry if I sound like a **** in this post - I was just curious if it would actually be doing you any good?

Why would they need two in the first place? Doesn't one plumb into the other? Maybe they are talking about the bypass.

same here, i was thinking the same as you, but when i read the article they stated they had two, one for each blower. i figure that the one for the turbo would to its job, im just confused why there was a second.
thanks for your feedback. now just waiting for the pros to chime in.

from my understanding of the article i read, they needed to lose some boost that the supercharger used.. therefore it acted as a wastegate to rid the system of it..???

You should probably ask one of these 2 about it:

TWINCHRGDMINI
El Diablito Rojo

I believe TWINCHRGDMINI builds that system
and El Diablito has been running it for quite some time.

They have a second BOV, because they removed the bypass valve from the stock supercharger because of oscillation issues (or at least that is what the article states).

Hey guys,

First off, it doesn't really make any sense to put a blow off valve on a supercharger like we did. The reason that we put the BOV on the supercharger was mainly for shock value to go along with the "twin" theme of the car, twincharge with twin blow off valves. We made a prototype supercharger bypass block off piece and connected the blow off valve to that. We are considering making the bypass block off piece an option along with our supercharger inlet piece.

SPI,

I liked the write up in Sport Compact, but I wish they had more pictures and some numbers on the car. I also wished that they talked a little more on how it compared with other cars they test/review in their magazine. It is nice seeing a Mini in the mag though. They mentioned that you got 265hp, although I though that you had been pushing way above 300hp.

You are correct. We are constantly making improvements to our test car. That article was written about one year ago. This was still our stage one kit. Since then we have dynoed over 375 hp to the wheels.

It takes them one year to get an article out? That is pretty lame!

Also, have you been contacted by Go Mini! ? I would be really curious. It would sure blow out the fake 260bhp kits that all of the tuners they interview are selling.
