Drivetrain HP (@wheels & @crank) with 17% or 19%, Intake, Exhaust, GIAC, Injectors???
HP (@wheels & @crank) with 17% or 19%, Intake, Exhaust, GIAC, Injectors???
Has anyone dyno'd or have any ideas on what would be the estimated power output with the above mods? How would be run against a stock 05 JCW?
Hp
Thanks. Currently have 17%, Alta intake, and Borla race and it is quite quick the way this setup is without any dyno figures and real tuning. Am considering to go 19%, 400cc injectors, plugs, and GIAC once this miserable winter passes. Hope to get a nice power boost with these upgrades.
the biggest prob is what is your baseline...every car's engine is different....the JCW rating is based on the factory "RATING" of the stock motor...however, some of them are stronger than others...so your end result could be different...
Tuls is 100% correct. Do a baseline dyno with what you have. If you need to by something, get an air fuel controller and tune what you have. You may be very surprised.

Eric at Helix has done quite a bit of dyno'ing when it comes to the MINI. He recently posted the below in a thread:
Here are some typical numbers that we will see with MCSs on our dyno (Mustang MD 250 Load type dyno):
Stock: 146-152 whp
15% pulley: 162-165
19% pulley, injectors, GIAC: 174-178
19% pulley, injectors, GIAC and any ignition products: 174-178
get it?
TurboKompressor car: 246-263 (so far)

There was no mention of a 17%, but you can probably guesstimate... But, you might want to look at torque more so than hp though. I say that because the hp deltas are not exactly noteworthy. A 19% with larger injectors and ECU (GIAC) gets about 12 hp more than a 15% alone, per the above. And since chipping a 15% can get one another 10 or so hp, it too then gets about the same whp range (mid 170's) of the 19% combo. Torque is the main lure for pullies smaller than 15%, not hp output...

Thanks for all the input guys.
Actually, all of my mods were purchased and installed by Eric@Helix. Eric has been tremendous help thus far and I am completely satisfied with both the workmanship and professionalism that he put forth into his business. Although I am already quite content with how the MCS is performing, I was just curious to see what other guys on the board are experiencing with their mini. Most likely I will be back to Helix in the very near future for addt'l work and tuning with the GIAC and hopefully get this lil beast to run every sweeter and graspier through the rpms. The only problem I am experiencing here in the NE frigid weather these couple of weeks is overboosting past 18psi as the traction control/check engine light continously light up.(keep me quite busy in the trunk to reset the battery at the end of each day) :=)

I'm just getting back from a trip to Helix today  . Upgrade to 19%, Giac, jcw injectors from 15% & Mth  . Drivability is much better, great take off and a bigger grin factor. Nice linear boost, no flatspots and very stable throttle response. I hoped the Giac software would be better than mth, I was not disapointed. Wow! I also replaced the alta intake with a jcw airbox. I miss the sound of the supercharger
, there is a nice growl coming from the jcw box and as the flap opens at 4500 rpm the tach needle jumps beautifuly. Now I get to hear my milltek catback without the sc whine
. My milltek catback is loud, Erik tought I'm runnig a header too. Love the new sound. I'm very pleased  , Thanx to all who contributed to make my desicion. Thank you Eric at Helix. Sorry dyno boys, no cool graphs for you.
Motoring on just got better!

Thanks for your write up and CONGRATS! I 2nd that..Eric is a good guy!
I am also leaning towards similar upgrades (17% to 19%, GIAC, Injectors) as yours since going turbo may not be so practical for my usage as the wife drive the MCS 50% of the time. I am not too keen on seeing dyno numbers but as long as the car hauls *** and remain reliable, I will be one happy camper.
I have driven must faster cars but this lil beast is so addicting to mod. I guess it has to do with a very well balanced engineered car.
Pls continue to keep us posted on your findings with your new mods. thx

UnderRadar, there is apreciable difference in power delivery with the 19%, Giac and injectors. I'm sure the software has a lot to do with making this package work so well. Just like a stock mcs wakes up to a 15% pulley, the new upgrade takes it up a notch. I think a 15% pulley and Giac software is plenty better than stock, after that you start to get diminishing rates of return for the money. The mth software is cheap and get's you what you paid for. At $325 Giac is not a bargain but again you get what you pay for. The 19%, Giac, Bigger injector deal is well worth the money.
